XMS-888: cannot have 5.1 o/p

Cannot have 5.1 output on my XMS-888, only front right and left. Nothing on the others. Can only access downmix setup, not the others under speaker setup. Highlight jump directly from DOWNMIX to MAIN PAGE. Please help!

Take the disc out and try again

You need to turn downmix off before you can access the other speaker setups.

With downmix set to LT/RT or Stereo, it downmixes the 5.1 channel sound into stereo, and so there is no need for the other speakers.
Once you turn it to off, you can set individual channels on / off like http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~wweb/xms888/13rearspkrs.JPG

Also, be aware that the 'test tone' for testing the surround speakers does not work, it only outputs 'white noise' on Front left - front right - rear left, so don't rely on it to tell you if it's working.
