Hi my Nintaus N9663H was not working well so I decided to open it, to my surprise I found a DVD Player with an IDE Cable and a standard PC Power connector.
My couriosity led me to connect this device to my PC, to see whether it worked as a normal DVD Player.
Here's what happened, my BIOS properly recognized it, but my WinXP failed to start, it just kept the blue bar spinning and spinning, and the HD led on.
Has somebody succeded in doing this? HOW???? I'd apreciate any information on whether it is possible or not to connect it

Regards
Ale

Maybe it's the IDE DVD drive part that is not working in your Nintaus....

Any IDE DVD drive should be recognised in a PC. I put a MAC DVD drive in my PC and it worked.

The drive is working well in the Player, it's something else the problem.. so, if any drive can be connected to a PC IDE interface then I don't understand why my XP does not boot. May be it's a configuration problem..?

Addition: I jumpered the drive in Slave and the same happens, but the drive keeps opening and closing the tray and does not stop doing that  Weird.

Possible problems:

- You may connected the cable backwards. That would stop it booting.
- Master/slave, but you've already tried that.

What about connecting it to the secondary IDE connector on the motherboard?

in your first post you said it wasn't working too well then in your second you said it worked alright in the player?
not sure what you're trying to do but btw i've put a lite-on dvd-rom in my nintaus ages ago when the original one failed

cheers

yeah the thing is that the problem is in the board not in the dvd player, so I imagine this is working fine, except when I plug it in my PC
