Hi,
Has anyone bought a Camcorder from PriceJapan? I asked for a quote and this is what they sent me

"All of camcoders selling in Japan is only NTSC and its body and LCD menu is written only in Japanese language.

If still interested, please e-mail again."

Does anyone have any experience in this area? Is it possible to use power converters and can the menu be changed by s/w etc?

Many Thanks PPL

What they say is not really correct - PAL camcorders are available to buy
in Japan e.g. Sony Overseas models

http://www.sony.jp/products/overseas/contents/english/index.html

However, they usually cost significantly more than the domestic
models as they obviously don't sell a lot of them.

Not sure about their comment about the body and LCD menus. Voltage
shouldn't be a problem though - most camcorders come with universal power
supplies.

Cheers,

Scott

I bought one in person, in Osaka some years back - there weren't many
'export' models on display. In a shop of 20 different cameras, there were
one or two PAL versions. Sony models have an E on the end for 'Export'...
Maybe less competition for PAL cameras, but it was still cheaper (including
airfare!) than buying in Australia... International warranty too. Power
supply isn't a problem and I had a plug adapter thrown in. Couldn't haggle
much on price, but got another battery and tape free too.

Cheers, Jason
