just rang Foxtel on 1300362052 to book my digital foxtel.

guy on the phone , said no problem we can book you in , do I want to know
about the packages , bla bla bla , chirpy friendly guy , then we
established that I was not a current analogue user and he attitude changed
completely , , basically -- go away and call back end of march , packages
information ? , I have no information for new customers , go away call back
in march , any other information ? -- go away call back in march .

I my opinion , if you are a analogue customer you are already hooked on
Foxtel , the guy just pissed off a potential new customer , not the way I
wanted my business to approach customers. I don't think i will bother
calling again.

just my 2 cents

I think they have a "bonus type" pay scheme and have to obtain orders from a certain amount of orders in order to reach that bonus....

Basically as soon as they find out, they cannot book you as of yet, they want to get rid of you ASAP in order to serve the next customer. Not a smart business strategy, and gives FOXTEL a negative image. (if they dont already have one)

My mate called in for a new connection (Digital) recently. Obviously, he was forwarded to the analogue section when the first CSR screened him. Initially, he wasn't aware of this, and later put 2&2 together and worked out that the 2nd CSR was using a array of "selling tactics" to push him to get the Satellite Service.

As soon as my friend said he rather wait the 2 weeks and call on 1st March, he was immediately shut-off. Any other questions he had about anything were not adequately answered.

So yeah, their service is fucked.

Similar experience. Rang them today. At initial answer, I was assured
non-current subscribers could book digital installation but, that as all
sales people were busy, she'd have one of them call me back. Salesperson at
call back was only interested in trying to get me to subscribe to analogue
next week. When I told her I was only interested in digital, she said they
hadn't even been trained in digital sales processing yet and that if I was
still interested in ? weeks time call them back. Click! What a wonderful
organization. Two completely different stories. Rang back again tonight to
seek clarification. Female answering tells me all calls are going to an
overflow answering service and that she would have to get another sales
person to call me back because she didn't know what the real story was.
Geez, I know they must be busy but you'd reckon they'd at least get them to
all sing to the same tune.

My partner works for an element of the overflow service
and they are VERY irate with Foxtel on the ground
floor - nearly 2000 such calls a day and they are telling
people a return call (from Foxtel) will be made within
48 hours, knowing this is optimistic at best.

Some of the stories I hear are amazing - sounds like Foxtel
are in a perpetual state of confusion at the customer service
front end and have never really recovered from the satellite
upgrade fiasco.

I had the same situation where I wanted to install Digital but they said no you have to ring back after the launch date.

So what I did was orginize to get anologue installed this was monday when I called and got it installed on wednesday just passed. I then called up yesterday to put in a request to migrate to digital and got an install date of march 22nd. So it may have cost me an extra $30 to get digital this way but at least I have analogue in the mean time and if I wanted till launch date to get digital installed I would most likely be waiting months.... So any of you guys that want to get digital installed I recommend you get anologue installed and then ring up 131 787 to migrate to digital.... Because I can see a very lengthy wait for non foxtel subscribers!!!!

My 2c.

what happens to the 12 or 24 months contract on sat when u want to
upgrade to digital.??

it becomes null and void and you start a new 24month contract from the date they install digital. Doesn't worry me as I only just started a 24mth contract but I could see how ppl that have been with foxtel for quite some time would be a bit upset with having to sign over to a new 24mth contract.

Mate, would you know how much a new install is on a 12mth contract? I know on a 24mth it is $149.95 (including first month fees)

I've been going since Galaxy started I don't take the 24mth contract as a
personal affront it is my choice in a free country.

You talk as if this is a civil rights issue. Lighten up. You can take
the no-contract option, but it's going to be an expensive upgrade price.

thats not true. the Austar boxes are already digital ready. you only need a new remote.
