View Full Version : Foxtel upgrade - Telstra customer

I have foxtel through Telstra. I called today requesting info on the upgrade
and they patched me through to a message service which took my details. The
recorded message promised that I "could" be one of the first to experience
the digital revolution.
I asked before I got put through when this would all happen and the girl
spoke to her supervisor and then said that they hope to be informed on
Monday when, how much etc.
As my old man would say, they couldn't organise a f*&k in a brothel .......

Correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard some people on this board who have been calling Fox's 1300 number and arranging for a Foxtel from Telstra Digital Installation....

The price is 5% or 10% less (depending on your reward package) than the
Foxtel prices as the "Foxtel Digital on Telstra" page in the March Foxtel
mag says

Yes you are right, I have my install arranged for 10th March, but on the day
I rang to book it (about a week ago) I was told I would have to ring back on
26th February as I was a Telstra subscriber.
I took a chance and rang again and the second operator also went away to
check but came back and said they were now accepting bookings and took my
details and slotted me in for 10th March.

I have Foxtel from Telstra and was told by Foxtel that I would need to
bring my pay tv service back to Foxtel to get upgraded to digital. I
can then switch it back to Telstra after the install is completed. I
will probably lose half my discount for 1 month, i.e. it will drop
from 10% to 5% for one month, then when it goes back to Telstra it
will go back to 10%. It seems rediculous, but I don't think Telstra
really have a clue.

That is not true. I am a Telstra customer and have arranged connection
through Foxtel without changing my billing.

Saying that is not true accuses me of lying. I say it is true because
it is exactly what Foxtel told me wehn I organised my installation.
Now I am not saying that Foxtel were correct. There seems to be a lot
of confusion from both Foxtel customer support and telstra customer
support. If I we do get switched across to Foxtel for at least a
month until we can get back with Telstra, it is not going to be that
big a deal in my humble opinion.
I shall ring the Foxtel digital installation number today and see if I
can get further clarification from them about whether my billing is
going to be changed from Telstra to Foxtel. I suggest you do the
same.

According to Foxtel there is no change. They just do the install. I'm still
with Telstra.

By reading your posts' and what my mates keep telling me, I think I can summarize the following:
- Existing Foxtel Customer: Call the 1300 Digital Installation Number to arrange for a booking.
- New Foxtel Customer: Call on or after March 1 to arrange for a new digital connection
- Existing Foxtel from Telstra Customer: Quote your Telstra Account number on installation and the installation will be arranged by ringing the same 1300 number the "Existing Foxtel Customers" ring. Your discount will apply....
- New Foxtel from Telstra Customer: Ring back on and after March 1 to arrange for a new digital connection. Same 1300 number. Whether discounts apply in the first month, I do not know.
Dilemna:: One of my mates @ UNI is with Optus TV, Local Telephone and Dial-up Net. He wants to get Fox Digital through Telstra, and also switch Telephone and Internet. What should he do? (he's not a existing Telstra customer who wants Foxtel Digital)
I think he should arrange Telephone and Net first with Telstra. Then, ring up Foxtel and get service from Foxtel for the first month, and switch over Telstra from there on....
Anybody help? (perhaps someone else was in a similar situation)
