cant get it to work ;(
The optical is OK but when I change the cable for the 75ohm RCA....NO sound ;(
Have tried a serach and looked at the xms888 site.......still no go.
If any1 got it working what did they set the dolby on the xms888 audio output.
Thanks

Did you disconnect the optical from the player and your amp? Most devices will give first preference to an optical connection if there is an optical and a coaxial connection present.

Yup..........
Only had one cable at a time connected to either amp or xmx.
The amp seems to search for the signal but cant find it.
Only thing I can try is another dvd player with coax out to see if its the amp or xms.
Under audio settings in the xms i have selected spdis out. That gives me the optical...is that the setting for coax as wel?
Thanks

I havent set it up right ??????
Tried the xlogic from the kids room and it worked straight away................coax dolby
So I know the settings on the amp are OK.
When i took the rca cable from the xlogic (but left the other end still connected to the amp) and put it into the coax output of the xmx I had NO sound.;(
Can any try coax on their xms and if it works please tell me what they had setup under the audio output settings please....
Thanks
If this dont work I may be ofto strathfield and get a replacement...bugger.... as I have one of the original xms player and it works GREAT and plays everything I have on cd and dvd.....
Thanks
I seem to recall someone having problems a while back, and finding that turning OFF Pro-Logic in the Audio Setup fixed it.
However, as I can't now find the info, I can't be sure.

Tried everythinh I can think off and no go.............on the coax.
Funny thing tho found if I have the optical and coax both connected to xmx and kenwood reciever, when I pull the optical out and select coax as input there is dts coming thru the speakers. BUT when I try to use coax NO sound ???
For all the t4echnophiles out there should the coax output not have a 75ohm impedance to match the amp? So the new style amps can sense them?
Sounds stupid BUT why can I get the coax to work AFTER I "initialise" using optical..

One of my amps has optical, coaxial and 6 channel analouge inputs, I'll have to hook it up and try it with the different firmware revisions and see what the outcome is. I'll do this in the next few days and report the results back here, and if there is anything unusual I'll pass the info to andw so he can update his site with anything relevant.

theres a bug with a new ESS firmware, where if you choose optical in the audio setup, you lose audio on the FIRST divx/avi disc you play. Ejecting and re-inserting the cd fixes this problem.
I hope youve tried that?
I hope ESS are taking so long because they are making major changes to their base firmware.
I hope to see proper widescreen support for avi, long filename support etc etc etc.

I tried everything you can think off....
Ended up buying a optical switch box from Jaycar.
I have a kenwood amp and a sony amp....It works OK on the Sony but not on the Kenwood. Left Coax connected to back of XMS and just swapped the amps around. Sony picked it up no problem but Kenwood just sat there looking at coax in. Then did the same experiment using my other Xlogic DVD ( macrovision free :) ) Kenwood and Sony on same settings as b4. Both got coax out no problem. Using Kenwood if I "start on optical" then switch to coax the sound remains....Bugger if I know what to do now .but at least with the optical switcher I can do what I want to now.
