I need to run a component RGB cable 10 Metre. Can I use 3 X high quality RCA cables and have the same signal quality or do I need to buy a 10 metre composite cable (expensive).
Regards
Steve

High quality is the key, no matter what. The brand and designation for usage
is nothing.

They should be 75 ohm impedance video cables. RCA cables used for audio are
not 75 ohm. RG59 coaxial cable is all you should need unless you are
planning to run HD

The high quality ones are 75-Ohm.

Over 10m it does matter. RCA audio cable will show degredation as opposed
to say good quality RG6. This would be my recommendation instead of buying
'high quality' RCA audio cable.

I like the Mogami stuff for longer runs, can get expensive, but their 2964
75 ohm coax is nice at only a few bucks a meter, of course you will need 30
meters. I've used the Mogami 3158 for 30 meter HD runs between scalesr and
projectors with perfect results, but think it was over 20 bucks a meter
wholesale. Prices can go wild for ultra wide bandwidth Belden coax good
enough for broadcast quality HD.

His is from the guy who aligns and positions TV antennas by sight. Too
funny.

Rg6 is solid core metal shield and coax for video / audio should be stranded
core , copper shield.
Using RG6 is cheap but butchery all the same.

We have just specified Belden 7789A 5 core coax for a project. I think you
will find it under $10 per metre. It is tested to 3GHz during mfr, so is
fine for medium length runs for HD.
For long runs use 7796A
