I am considering purchasing a Pioneer VSX D912 amp.

It's available for $1090.00 at Campsie Hi-Fi.

In the US at

http://www.shopharmony.com/product.asp?i=PIOVSXD912K

It's selling for $294 US.

Now I figure at most $100 US shipping, %20 for customs. It still brings it to anout $620 AUD

Not what are some pitfalls? Will it be compatible with Australia power? Also the US model number has a K appended to it. Is this significant.

Ive got the 712, and it does have a swicth on the back to select input
voltage level.

The tuner might not be compatible with our radio frequencies, and the power
might not be suitable either. Check the specs to see if it has an option for
220V power.

Apparently less than 10% of accidents are caused by drivers exceeding the
speed
limit.

There may be warranty issues, will Pioneer Aus honour a warranty for
something bought overseas.

Last year I moved back to Aus from the USA after living there for a
year. and brought a yamaha receiver with me.

While many of the units in Australia have a 110/240v switch on them I
could not locate this on anything in the USA. They are all fixed at
110v. I would guess that the K means 110v only. To get around this I
also bought this voltage converter at
http://www.voltageconverters.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?
preadd=action&key=VC
1000

So far this has worked flawlessy, before I arrived back here I was not
sure whether the radio tuner would work but I figured if it didn't I
could buy a cheap tuner and plug it into the aux input. Anyway, the fm
works fine but am is non existent. All the am stations in the US are in
factors of 10, eg 1250, 1400 etc. In Aus they are factors of 9, eg 873,
954. This means that unless the unit has a way of switching these steps
am will not be possible to tune in a station. I haven't worried about
this myself as I do not listen to am.
