G'day folks. :)
I'm sure most of you have seen SHREK being sold at Video Ezy for $26.95 (with free ears and even a rental voucher too if your lucky).
This is a pretty sweet price for the R4.

Has anyone seen a better deal?
If so, let us know what and where. :)

Next best price I've seen was $32.95 at Big W. Our local VE store has run out of Shrek DVDs at that price........must have been the 'ears' that got the crowds in. :D

My girlfriend loved those ears, and took great pleasure in watching the movie while wearing them !

I asked for the rental voucher, but my store insisted it wasnt part of the deal :( .

I wonder if Swordfish will be on sale at a similar price at VE, considering EzyDVD are taking pre-orders at that price?

hey Watcher

try K-Mart
they have a new price-match policy where they guarantee to beat any price by 10%
so it should come to $24.25 matched to Video Ezy's price less 10%

That sounds pretty sweet stenno .
I bought my R4 from Video Ezy already, but this new beating prices by 10% policy at Kmart sounds interesting.:)

they have now changed it, correcting what they say was an error in the catalogue's in weekend papers

(i read this elsewhere)
they will match the price and beat it by 10% of the difference (so if it was $10 more at kmart, they would match the price and beat it by $1)
nowhere near as good as what was originally printed in the latest catalogue

Kmart and David Jones have pricematching, however if you have a shareholders card for these companies you then get the 10% off.

You cannot use PriceMatching AND your ColesMyer Shareholder Discount at the same time. It's either one or the other.

The exception to this is if the PriceMatch is between ColesMyer stores.
E.g. Grace Bros pricematching KMart.

But if you Pricematch at GB/KMart/Target etc with Video Ezy, then you dont get to use your Discount card on top of it. The same applies when there is a 15% storewide sale, you cannot use your discount cards during that sale.

I'm not sure on the David Jones policy though.

Last time I used it you could accumulate in Kmart using Coles Myer Shareholder Card. My brother works at LiquorLand and accumulates his 5% employee with the 5% shareholder discount as well.

Maybe you're not going to the right stores. Sometimes these decisions are at the descretion of store management.

My father said he bought a "pricematched" item at David Jones with a 10% shareholder discount recently.

I'm speaking from what the Coles-Myre storewide policy is. I know this because I am a former employee of Grace Bros.

If stores give you the extra discount, they are going against policy. Sometimes it happens, but more often than not, it doesnt.
There is no Store Manager discretion as they are the ones who vigorously remind the staff about it. Sometimes staff will do it out of ignorance or simply to get rid of an annoying customer.

What is funny is that Shareholders dont realise that they are diddling their own coimpany and reducing their own profits/dividends.

As I said before, I don't know about the David Jones policy.

Some readers in AUS.DVD newsgroup had BigW price match it to $26.

hey

did anyone ever realise that k-marts price matchin thing is ghey

if you read and hear the ad properly it says kmart will beat the price by 10% OFF THE DIFFERENCE

therefore if video ezy has shrek for $26 and kmart has it for $30 you'd only get 40cents off $30

Joe, that's not exactly beating the price is it. Beating the price means, bettering it. 40c off $26 !

Joe, I havent seen the brochure. But I was in Kmart on the weekend, and they had this 10% deal on signs everywhere. It specifically said....

"If you find a better price elsewhere, we will meet that price, and beat it by 10% of the difference"

That's pretty clear to me, and is a great deal IMHO. I'm going to try printing off some web dvd prices, and try to convince the Kmart sales girls to honour the deal ;) .

Um, I think it means if Ezy has it for $26 and they have it for $30 they give it to you for $26 minus 40c = $25.60

Let us know how you go with that Millsy, as I have found some great prices online for some DVDs - and it would be good to save the postage.
