It always seems to spark a contraversy when someone points out to a forum member that they might have there price to high.I myself unwittingly sparked a malestrom a while back and we seemed to have once again trod on a landmine in this forum recently. This might be a good place to thrash out the price police against the sellers argument.
I myself lean towards the price police side.i am happy for anyone to point out to me if they think i'm asking to much and anyone can feel free to make an offer on anything i advertise for sale.I do think it is best to do it in a pm though rather than clogging up the forum with unwanted posts. Its like swings and roundabouts for me,you might sell something for less than you though originaly but the next week you pickup a great bargin yourself.
As adults there is no need to take offence at a bit of discussion on price cause after all it is a trading fourm.
Everyone feel free to cut loose with your thoughts cause it's better to do it here than in the for sale posts.
Regards,
Eric.

IMO, stating to a seller that it can be obtained cheaper (or whatever) is fine, as long as it's done in a Private Message.
To have someone come onto a FS / FT thread you've created and state you're over-charging can be embarrassing, irritating and very aggrivating to say the least.
I'm not going to get too detailed as I'm just going to blow a fuse again :p, so I'm just going to leave you with that. :)

Yeah, a polite private message or email to the person is a good choice if you must say something.:)
There's nothing wrong with debates, but not in the for sale/trade section and as long as it doesn't get out of hand. :)

I am with mac. Some people know there prices are higher than what you can get it for online, but for some of us that are importing titles and making a little cash on the side it is very rude of someone to do that.
Most people at this site know where to get dvds from online if they want but there are reasons why people will pay a small premium for an dvd and not import themselves.
For me personally i can make more on ebay but prefer to offer most of my dvds for sale here first at a reduced rate,Whatever dosnt go within a day and there has only been 1 dvd out of about 20 i put on ebay. This in itself tells me that i am doing the right thing and providing a service to people on eyo forums. The money i make here is not alot compared to ebay where i have doubled my cost on some items.
So this being said there is a market for this service.I have no qualms with people posting in the where to buy forum about what im selling but just do not do it in my for sale thread.I liken it to going into another retailer and spruking for the competition.

If I can charge $60 for Glitter and someone will pay it good for me.
We live in a free market society. There should be no excuse for some falling for a scam. We all can find this site, so we can all find online retails stores to compare.
Public messaging that someone can get it cheaper elsewhere is just wrong.
Next thing you know we will have people dictating how many DVD's a trade is worth.
and the mention of Glitter is an eg. I do not own Glitter. Stop asking to buy it off me Mac.

Well I suggest this. If you see your friend about to make a stupid purchase P.M him and tell him. That way, if he trusts your knowledge on fair pricing' you save him from himself.
Resposibility. If you know your prices you'll never get burnt.
And this is the friggin' internet people!!. You're never more than a search away from the most up to date pricing. If someone is asking what seems to be a high price for an R1 disc -log on to amazon.com, check the price, add the shipping -magic! Now you know!!

I Gotta agree with Mr Mac and watcher:
I like the PM method of advising someone that perhaps they're asking a bit much.
I haven't actually sold any DVDs, so I've never been in the situation, but I think I'd be annoyed if one of my posts had been targeted.
Obviously, we all want to get as much as we can on a sale (without being over the top!) but to have someone openly point out that a price is too high is offensive!!
Just my 2½ cents worth!:D
