I do however agree that this is one of the best movies ever made :)

While i dont' own the region 2 copy, i do own the r3 IVL copy (yes its a legal copy, and is acknowledged by ghibli :D). I would imagine that the r3 used the same masters as the r2, and once i popped in the dvd, it was pretty back imo. If however, i was not aware of the "red tint" issue, i would have never noticed it. The only reason i did not wait for madman's releas of SA is the fact that i tend to collect all the ghibli R3 dvds so i can complete the "Studio Ghibli Collection" :D

Apparently in the next couple of weeks, the PAL R2 French release, will have no red tint of any kind. I really hope that the french does an excellent release, as madman's R4 PAL release will be based on the french release.

According to this thread (http://forums.animeondvd.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=9&topic_id=5601), the R3 Korean release will too not have a "red tint", if that is the case, it will be the first asian dvd of spirited away that hasnt got the "red tint"

Dont' know if i am allowed to post pics here but i will give it a shot anyway, if im not, Watcher, just edit my post and take the tags off, but please leave this (http://www.dvdprime.com/board/dvdinfoviewbody.php3?code=dpnews&page_num=1&number=177&keyfield=&key=) link (which takes you to the R2 vs R3 Korean comparison)

Region 2 Japanese DVD vs Region 3 Korean DVD

The R3 Korean version looks best in my view.

Apparently Madman will be giving Spirited Away a theatrical run in December, followed by the DVD release sometime around Feb/Mar I think... thats just what i recall from the Madman forum though.

I just watch 'Spirited Away' for the first time and....

In a word - AWESOME!!:p

I'll need some time to digest the narrative side of things. If anything I wanted it to go on for another hour. The conlusion seems a bit rushed,,,, maybe less satisfying than it should have been. I definately feel like Ive been somewhere else for the last two hrs and I can't wait to go back...:D

But animation wise that's probably, if not technically the best, aesthetically the greatest animated film Ive ever seen.

I'll be rushing out to buy the R1 or R4 DVD next year, and I look forward to seeing it on the big screen in a few weeks (dub or sub don't care).

Makes me sad to think this could really be the last film he directs

So far my 'film of the Year'. Maybe LOTR TT will top it but 'Spirited Away' is such a special, one off treat, I can't see anything coming close.... 6 stars outa 5!!

You'll be glad to know that he's actually in the process of making a new film :)
There was an interview with him on the second disc of the R2 (HK or SG release) and he has confirmed it.

The film will launch on December 12th on 35 screens around Australia in the dubbed format, primarily in Hoyts & Village multiplexes. In addition to this, 2 cinemas will be running the subtitled version - the Nova Cinema, Melbourne & Chauvel Cinema, Sydney.
