Whats people views on this series. I noticed the complete 8 discs now in a box set, and theres the end of evangelion and death & rebirth.

I havent really got into much anime, but I saw the 1st 2 ep. on VHS and it seemed alright.

Everyone seems to love it but I just can't. Watched the Death&Rebirth film, hired out the 1st few episodes, visited fan sites. Nothing. All attempts to enjoy what people claim is a 'landmark' series have failed. The premise is really cool, but a lot of the stuff worked around it (ie the characters, the relationships, the voice work) shit me.

An anime nut I know has seen the whole series and thought the shows got a little repetitive after a while.

I personaly wouldnt recommend rushing out and buying the boxset.

I love the series, i am going to buy the 8 DVD collection. To really get the most outta it you need to watch all the episodes then source the ending movie which hasnt been released here! I saw the movie with english subtitles and its sweet. A little strange at times but still really cool. As craptest said, dont rush out an buy the set until u've seen a couple episodes first. If you like it then rush out and buy it!

I have episodes 12-14 for sale if anyone is interested!

Maybe I should give it one more try. i hired it when I hired Martian Successor Nadesico, and I found that series a lot more entertaining (especially the pisstake of Gundam{among others}.There are a lots of references to Robotech and Evangelion as well. But again, I didnt make it thru the whole run.

maybe Im too 'old school'. I can watch a whole season of Robotech (Macross) without complaining. Nostalgia has a lot to answer for.

Maybe you shouldn't give it another go if it went over your head I guess. Anime is dubbed by Americans to "Englesh" so that could of been what annoyed you and I find some people get a little uncomfortable viewing masturbation and naked breasts. Maybe Shinji is a little close to home for you? :dD
