Does anyone know if expedited shipping at amazon is that much better than standard shipping? There's a $5.50 USD difference in price. Is that just for the promise of faster delivery or do they packaged the items better as well?

I guess items are less likely to be damaged in transit if they spend less time 'in transit'.

Anyone have a amazon.com horror story? Actually, don't tell me. Ive got two Robotech collection DVD sets on order..:(

I believe the items are packed the same.
I have ordered DVD's, books and audio CDs from
Amazon, Amazon.ca and Amazon.uk and they have
all been "reasonably" packed, that is inside a cardboard
box and sometimes covered in bubble wrap, sometimes not.

None of them have ever arrived damaged, DVD/CD's are
harder to damage than books though (but my books
have all arrived tip-top).

Never just sign/accept a damaged parcel. Open it with the courier/ post office clerk and inspect contents if the parcel shows signs of damage.
Make a claim or return it if contents damaged, whatever you are advised.

So basically the difference is the shipping time.
My expidited order with Amazon.ca was sent on Mon. the 11th and arrived yesterday morning (18th)!
Had an Australian Air Express "Special Handling" sticker
on it too! Most impressed.

Sea freight will take close to three months.

Well I checked out those sites, and at least for the items Im interested in, they're no better and often noticibly worse.

www.dvdboxoffice.com is a good no frills canadian website with free shipping. Between them and amazon I think I get an alright deal most of the time. But hey, I'll check those places now and again to make sure I aint gettin' shagged.:D

Thanks for the links orko. Knowing you care is enough for me:D

I agree, I checked out A&B Sound, Total Action Universe (sounds like a bad Arnie movie), Amazon.ca and found that for my last order, Amazon won out, just.

All much of a muchness really, shop around for the best prices, there is no need to ignore any of them.

I must be after the wrong titles, cos everytime I try Amazon it's way over. But hey good that there is variety out there
