Well,
the digital STU install went very smoothly, return line is another thing
entirely but that's a Telstra issue...but I now have a problem with infa
red.
I have a mutli room system and the new STU doesn't recognise the repeated
signal from the IR repeater - the repeater system is working correctly and
is OK on other devices, my aii-in-one remote has learnt the signals from the
new remote OK, so I am a bit of a loss.
I have had a Google and can find nothing relevant - has anyone else had a
similar problem ? The only thing I can think of is that the new IR signal
can't be read by my repeater...
cheers

Many older extenders won't work! The Pace STU uses IrDA
protocol (the same as PCs do) instead of the normal type of IR
protocols (AV equipment such as TVs, vcr's etc.). This normally
manifests itself in extenders not working and universal remotes not
learning. - you will need to purchase a new extender that is also compatible
with IrDA

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Foxtel Pace 420 series boxes use RC6.
If they used IrDA, learning remotes couldn't learn the codes at all.
Simon, I think you are correct, the problem is your IR repeater not
accepting RC6.
Which IR repeater are you using? ie what brand?

I have an ME sound multi room system, but i'm not sure what IR it supports.
If it was irda, i don't think my remote (a 3 year old Rotel) would have been
able to learn the codes.
I'm wondering if there is a frequency range that the ME setup can read and
if the new remote is outside that....
Still none the wiser but i'll try and get to my dealer this week sometime.
