View Full Version : Dispute drags on at Foxtel
NewsMan
20-03-2004, 09:58 PM
The dispute between Foxtel and the workers who install its newly launched
digital TV service entered its third day yesterday with subcontractors
agreeing to strike for another 24 hours.
The decision to extend the stop work, which began on Monday morning, came
despite Foxtel chief executive Kim Williams flying to Melbourne yesterday to
personally address a mass meeting of subcontractors at a suburban oval.
The subcontractors say the rates they are being paid are too low and have
rejected a one-off $1000 payment offered by Foxtel.
It is understood Foxtel was keen to strike a bargain with the Communications
Electrical and Plumbing Union before yesterday morning's meeting to avert
any further installation delays......

From what I understand, they negotiated a fixed $ per install, then
Foxtel made the digital installs take 5 times longer.
