Foxtel Digital will launch the first major roll-out of interactive
advertisements next year, but privacy issues mean that although viewers will
be able to download menus, it could be some time before they can order a
pizza.
The Multi Channel Network, which sells advertisements across the major pay
television networks, said 30 advertisers had expressed interest in being the
first to do an interactive campaign on the new digital platform.
Initially, advertisements will be limited to allowing viewers to press a
button for further information. Coca-Cola in the United States, for example,
tells viewers who press the button that actress Penelope Cruz can drink a
whole bottle of Coke without drawing breath.
Advertisers could also ask viewers to key in contact details for free
samples or additional information.
However, true interactive shopping is likely to be some time off, largely
because of privacy issues about how the network would pass on subscriber
information such as street addresses.........

Seeing a murder on television can help work off one's antagonisms. And if
you haven't any antagonisms, the commercials will give you some.

The real purpose of interactivity revealed. Looks like the lesson from
Optus iTV was to bring this out later.

I'll only accept interactive ads if they accept interactive prank calls.
