I've just bought one of the above cards.

Current system is Pentium 4 CPU with gigabyte motherboard and Nvideo video
card

physical install went sweetly and according to device mgr its working fine

software installed fine and did the initial search and found all the signals
I expected. Just as it finished then software closed by itself.

when I tried to restart I get a "could not initialise front end" error and
it closes.

I've uninstalled both hard ware and software and reinstalled and get the
same problem.

I've tried the latest drivers and software from the Hauppauge.co.uk website
and get the same problem.

Any pointer appreciated - does this mean the card has died or is it likely
to be a software issue.

If there is a more relevant forum please advise me, as I have not been able
to find one.

thanks

Dave

Hey there I had the same problem. I got the 2.16 drivers from Hauppauge.De
web site. I uninstalled everything.

First you need to install the card in Device Manager. Point it to where you
have the drivers located and install. Then reboot. Then install the
application software and all should be fine.

Hope that helps.

I did that all except got the updated software from the Hauppauge.co.uk
site, in fact I just did it again to double check including physically
removing, rebooting and re-inserting

also tried 2.15 and hte latest version 2.16 and followed the instructions
wrt software, device mgr and dvbclear

same error - could not initialise front end?

any other thoughts?

thanks

Dave

What OS are you using?
BTW, this card is more suitable for Linux users...

1) antenna good, found and locked onto sigs before the software closed and
then kept getting "could not initialise front end" error

2) yep I hoped to use this card later in a media box with linux decoding
HDTV and as a PVR and DVD player when my understading of linux improves -
and kernel 2.6.4...... becomes main stream

I'm using win XP atm hoping to use linux later in the year

any pointers ?

I've found Hauppauge's software to be absolute shite. Try Technotrend's,
I've had better luck with their version of 2.16 software.
