View Full Version : DGTEC 2000a Infrared
Hi all,
This may have been discussed but my news server doesn't have any mention of
this in its archives. I have a DGTEC 2000A, which has a problem (no,
really..) It misinterprets the commands from other remote controls, so when
I try to change the volume on my Yamaha amp, the DGTEC changes channel. I
even have to be careful using my IR equipped laptop computer in the same
room as even that can result in random channel changes.
I've had the unit replaced once; the previous unit had this fault but would
also turn itself off occasionally for no apparent reason.
Both units also lose audio/video synchronisation after being powered on for
some time. IE, the sound track trails the video picture by half a second or
more. Turning it off then on seems to fix this.
Are these common problems?

Yep they are common with Dodgy Tec

This is a well known problem. It usually repeats the last good IR command it
received when it does this. There is a simple workaround. After using the
DGTEC remote, press the SEL key. Thius key does not do anything when sent by
itself, so when it repeats the last command, it will just repeat the SEL
which does nothing.

After sending a command to the DGTEC DH-2000A, press the "EXIT" button on
the DGTEC remote control.
Works for me.

I use a universal remote and don't have this problem at all. The only time I have had hassles is when I left the cap off the TOS connector after I disconnected my amp. With the cap off (or no TOS fibre cable plugged in), the set would do all sorts of things by itself.
Ok so thanks guys - now I know the IR problem is a known design defect. How
about the voice/picture sync, seen that at all?

Check the forum below. The problem appears to be fixed by the 1.9 firmware.
