We have a Grundig Cinaro with in-built digital tuner. We have been experiencing an intermittent problem where a blue screen appears with the message "DVB Pause" on it, when either turning the TV on from Standby mode or when changing channels. Has anyone seen this or knows about this problem?

The problem may be corrected temporarily by turning the TV off, then on again, or by changing channels.

I have the Xentia

The problem is your reception - although everyone says that with digital you can have sh*t reception (like me) and still get a fantastic picture - true - to a point, like all things in life.

I get that problem around stormy times - channel 10 is unviewable then. Got a bit p*ssed off at the sign, and called the "grundig man" in. Here's the explanation he gave me:

there's a buffer in there, which continually gets replenished from the feed.
in sh*t weather (storms) when its quenched - there is no more signal, as the quality is so poor it doesnt buffer/display it - hence you get DVB Pause. Changing channel and back helps as it re-requests the data somehow ?!

Hope that helps...

Personally am going to get someone to come in and install a proper aerial system here.

PS:

What a fantastic TV set though - absolutely love it.

Thank you for your response Romka, quite interesting.

Our house has a digital-ready antenna (installed by accredited people) which we had installed before we moved in last Sept. Also, when DVB Pause occurred, I went to our other TV (LG) which has a STB connected to it, to cross check. This showed that only the Grundig was having signal problems.

The TV is currently with the Grundig service repairer and the same thing (antenna problem) has been suggested although we have not accepted this theory on the basis of the above. The repairer is having difficulty duplicating the problem (I told them it was an intermittent problem) and wishes to keep the TV until Fri. It is starting to sound like a signal processing (technology/design) problem to us and it is not apparent at this point how this can be resolved.

We'll keep you updated on any progress.

searching google  for xentia problem and I come across this feed :D . It is close to my issue.

Our Xentia just came back from the Grundig man. It had intermittenly lost all our digital channels when we turned it on in the morning. The TV wanted to know what country it was in and to search for the channels all over again. We also got a blue screen appears with the message "DVB Pause" on it.

Basically the explaination I got, 3rd hand (Grundig to Mrs to me), the digitial card in the TV overloads when in standy by. Should turn main front button off for nights etc otherwise it overloads.

So every night we turn it off via the front button and it hasn't happened now for a week tomorrow.

So I suppose even if left on all the time eventually it overloads. Seems an issue with the digi card. Proof would be to get foxtel/sky/digiT stb and see if the "DVB Pause" returns.

What do / can one do? :(
