also screen an event assigned to SBS.
Earlier this month, a Seven executive said Foxtel's most recent offer for
the complementary rights to the Athens Games was too low to be treated
seriously.
``Foxtel knew we were talking to someone else about complementary coverage,"
said a Seven spokesman.
``It came to us with a revenue-sharing deal that contained no revenue
guarantees and required us to help market its Olympic channels.
``The deal with SBS is much simpler and more lucrative."
Foxtel spokesman Mark Furness said the loss of Athens Games programming was
not a disaster.
``The proposal Seven put to us was simply uneconomic and provided no scope
for digital enhancements," he said.
Seven will produce SBS's Athens coverage, but the networks will sell their
own sponsorship and advertising.
