need dvd player

Unless someone can help me with advice on a Omni dv3300E,it just pauses all throughout a movie can sometimes freeze for 2-3 mins,anyone know why this is happening,or should I just throw it and buy a decent one,which I also have no idea on,so any advise how to solve the Omni problem or a good dvd player worth replacing it with would be appreciated,don't want to spend more than $500,I have a Toshiba big screen tv and a Panasonic SAHE90 Reciever,this is a rather non descript lot of equipment,but it was what I could afford at the time, I don't necessarily want a recorder,but whatever advice would be good,Regards,Keith

Check if the disc is not badly scratched (esp. with circular rings), etc. Or try a different disc. Sometimes some players are not good at playing some discs.

I hardly ever play dvd's,but a recent venture has pushed me into watching a few,had a couple of those dreaded copies a friend sent,most worked,except 2 that just were impossible to sit thru,then I bought one in here that couldn't play,but plays fine elsewhere,now tonight was watching another I got here,and it's just jamming all the way thru,does seem to be a bit hot,but not overly,so it's having a rest at the moment,so it's obviously not the discs,Keith

i have a Panasonic DVD-S35, i have had no problems with it, i bought it from Bing Lee for $229. It automatically selects PAL/NTSC plays MP3, VCD etc.
All round a good player and a good brand.

yeah, panasonic is a good brand, but you can probably get something similar like one of those XMS-888 at Strathfield Car Radios. http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~wweb/xms888/

Thanks for your help,Strathfield don't have it at the moment,but at least now I have an idea on a good one to replace this headache one i've got,appreciate all your help,I'll slip down tomorrow and see what's available, any other suggestions in case would be appreciated also,Regards,Keith
