Hi All,
First I wasn't exactly sure where this should go so if you feel it should be moved let me know.
Now, I have 2 DVD holders (they hold approx 35 each), they are now full and I have another 15-20 that I wanted in racks. The problem is I don't want to keep buying these 35 holders I want at least 80-100 or more.
Does any one know a good one?
The size doesn't really matter but it must be less than or equal to approx $100-$110.
I noticed a bookshelve in Ikea that looked like it could hold shitloads for $99. The problem is it is not designed to hold DVDs to the shelves are deep in, but not deep enough to hold 2 in a row (ie one infront of the other).
Does anyone use a bookshelve to hold some DVDs and if so is it good enough?
Thanks

nah I don't Hounds, but most shops which have wood products ie, tables & book shelves, would have somethin appropriate.
I also have the holder bought from Target which has doors etc. Unsure how many it holds, but up to H in my collection.

Yes it caught my eye the first time I saw it as well. I went for the "medium brown" as it looked the best to me. They also sell seperate shelves to add on. I can see quite a bit fitting into it. I can also chuck in my books and mags, quite usefull to all for $99, I was impressed.
P.S Extra shelves were $20 each.
If your interested the one in Melb on Nepean Hwy had a slightly damaged one (just some scraches) for about $70.
I'll let you know if it fits my purpose or not when I get it all connected and filled :D
Thanks

I got a pair from Harvey Norman - they were on special for about $100 each. Hold roughly 100dvds
Made by Everett Worthington, they are the "MediaMax" standalong shelves, can take VHS or DVD.....

Who else hates the dominance of horizontal DVD racks? A DVD collection looks so much better when the cases are positioned as theyre meant to be -that's vertically btw...
I think a bookcase is the smartest way to go but I can't say I like your choice of cheap IKEA mr Death. Those shelves are wider than ideal IMO. mR_CaESaR's are pretty nice though . Thin and tall :D
mR_CaESaR, where's Clints? Never heard of it?
Best 'dvd racks' I've seen are those locally made wooden ones that stack the DVD vertically (Yay!!). Theyre not cheap but they dont look cheap either. You know the ones I mean? Basically two bits of wood with metal rods places in appropriate positions to hold the cases. They make a 30, 60 and 120 as standard.

clints is another type of shop like "The Reject Shop", i think the reject shop might even stock these shelves (i can tell you in a couple of days if my reject shop near me has em, cause i need another shelf), i am almost 100% sure that they are $39.95, and they will defiantely fit 19 dvds per tier (if you put single discs, not boxsets or something similar)
Clints Carzy Bargains is also known as "The Warehouse", here are all the stores in sydney:

Thanks mR_CaESaR.
What I'd really love are tall thin shelves with clear or smoked glass display cabinet doors. Do you know anything that fits the description?
Right now my DVD's are on a shelf and I can barely leave them a week before they're covered in dust. It's a clean house, but floor boards seems to mean healthy (or unhealthy) amounts of dust.
I'm also hoping cabinet doors might stop friends grabbing the first DVD they see and asking to take it home:mad: (then returning it with scratches:( )

Yeah I know what you mean the problem I have with them is that they cost about $150 but they hold about 100-150. However they only hold single cases, not doubles (why don't any rack manufacturers support the double cases or box sets?).
The ones with glass doors are even more (more than I wanted to spend).
I also have a few books lying on the floor and a bunch of mags sitting in draws and so I figured this booksheleve could hold the lot.
I agree with the width problem, you need to fill the entire shelve otherwise they may fall over. But I could fill the extra space on the last shelve I use with either videos, mags or books.
Thanks for the input though.
Thanks

Didn't end up getting the Reject shop cheap -cheap bookcase. Instead managed to waste $159 on a Conrad bookcase from Freedom Furniture.
Now .......I need an extra shelf ($19) and I'm thinking about adding a small door ($49).:D

I got a custom shelf made out of pine from one of those local pine funiture stores. It holds about 500 DVDs, but is already full and I've resorted to stacking DVDs on the coffee table.... So I'm thinking of getting another made, or picking one of those Ikea Billy bookcases - but in 80 cms.
This is what mine looks like (with another 2 shelves not shown in the pic).

Looks good, how much did it cost to have that made?

Measures about 90cm x 220 cm. I did a drawing with the dimensions which I have somewhere - I'm looking for it now to get another shelf made instead of getting the Ikea Billy bookcase.
