Not really a huge fan of Horror films and can't really say that I have seen alot of slasher/horror type films other than the Scream/I know what you did last summer type films and the usual ones like The Exorcist(and the lame sequal) and the Omen(except the made for TV last one).

Probably for me it would have to be The Exorcist as pretty scary, also I remember seeing The Omen(the first one with Gregory Peck in it) and that was pretty scary when I first saw it when I was younger.

Anyway so- which film or films have scared the living dayights out of you, or at least were able to terrorise you?

I remember being actually scared by Black Christmas (The movie I am referring to in the Movie Game thread)

I don't know whether it was the hype up, the fact that I was home alone or just how it was made that freaked me out.

All I remember is going to sleep with a large knife that night incase anyone came into the room... (Not so wise, incase it was another family member; so please do not try this at home :p)

When I was about 13 I had a horror movie night with some guys and girls of the same age. I remember that The Evil Dead and The Exorcist scared the absolute crap out of me, but I had to pretend to be cool and act as if they were tame.

The Haunting [1963] gives me an uneasy feeling everytime I watch it and still to this day I check the windows and make sure the door is shut after I view it

When I was like 12 I went to the cinema by myself (my usual weekend thing) and they always had a double feature back then. Well there was The Shining and Salems Lot. Well I had an idea what The Shining was but clueless about Salems. I sat in the back row, Salem was on first and after about 10 min of that movie I was sitting on the edge of the row under the door light I was so scared. That bloody guy floating at the window and scratching and saying "let me in" in wispers brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr scary stuff.

I went to see The Ring at the cinema last week, it has wrecked my life since. I have moved my TV out of my room, and smashed all video tapes in my house. Apparently the Japanese version is much better than the American release, I wont be able to check as I am applying for a restraining order against my TV.

Oh a discovery I made whilest watching the film, if you are a scared little bitch like me in horror movies don't take a chick on a first date to see The Ring :(

It did, but it also relied on the cheap method of a sudden loud noise in some instances too.

Indeed, I could just film myself logging onto EYO and then suddenly turn the volume up and you'll be scared witless.

I'm not sure if I should pity you or laugh at you for being this scared of such a pathetic, americanised, bucket of crap excuse for a movie...

When I was younger I remember first watching Pet Semetary - there was a character, the mum's sister - who had some type of deformity or spinal dystrophy or something - anyhow she scared the crap out of me!!

I can still hear her calling down the stairs "Raaaaachel.....Raaaaachel" AAAARRHH!!!!

Cheers,
Amanda

Oh and there was this movie I saw many years ago (shut up Whizz) there was this woman and she had this native statue and it came alive and chased her around the apartment with a spear?knife and she finally throws it in the oven but stupidlly opens the oven and the spirit goes into her. Then she rings up her mother to come over and it ends with her waiting by the door with a bloody big knife. Anyone????

Agreed.

What made me laugh was how everyone was commending the 'excellence' of the director and the film (blah blah blah).

As you said, all he did was fill it with cheap pops and effects, and an irritating little girl. :rolling:

Oh, there were some gory moments in this film that make me wince.
Especially when Cage uses the scalpel to cut through the person's ankle.
Gross.

The Other's is really a very contradicatory in a way.
Because if you know who is supposed to be the ghost, why wouldn't they be able to see the mortals then?!?
