Bought a NeuNeo for $215 + $40 postage + $25 bank/wire transfer fee from a Chinese seller on eBay and it arrived today, I'll post some notes on it and give my opinion, if you have any questions please ask.

-It played most DivX 3 files, just a handful would not play (I suspect they are older then 3.11 which the player does not support, but I'm not sure)

-It does not play multi-session DVDs (the first session will still appear, as is the case with most DVD players)

-It comes with a free retail LoTR: RoTK DVD, I'm not sure what region the dvd is but I'm pretty sure the player is region-free.

-The picture is very pixelated (not sure why, maybe it has something to do with the colour system), you stop noticing after a while, when watching from a distance you hardly notice at all.

-It plays CD-RW and Laser DVD-Rs (thats all I could test), the distributor claims it played everything he threw at it though.

-It has a transparent blue loading tray which is flexibile (I assume so its harder to damage)

-It fast forwards at upto 32x, haven't tested rewind.

Anything else I think of I will add.

Hi pyr0maniac, screenshots would be nice if you have a digital camera handy.
(The NeuNeo has the MTK1389 chipset, I believe. Is that right?)

I would be very interested to see how you go with it, they have been talked up quite a bit but I haven't come across anyone that actually had one until now. The pixelated picture is a bit of a concern, I'm also interested to know how you go with after sales support and if you feel the overseas purchase has any negative impact for you. I guess it's not a big deal these days given that so much stuff is done online but it will still be interesting to see how well the seller stands by the product (and backs up the 'play everything thrown at it' claim)

Hi, I will attempt to take digital pictures tommorrow, if you know of somewhere I can upload them (or you know how to use my big pond cable webspace) please tell me. And yes it has the MTK 1389 chipset.

The pixelated picture is only really noticable if your standing next to the screen like me  , from a distance I barely notice it at all. I'm sure the quality on a P-Scan TV would be fantastic!

In regards to the overseas purchase, the delivery was very very quick considering it came from Hong Kong (the payment took a while to receive though), the extent of the support is emailing the guy from e-bay (he is usually helpful and responsive).

The policy for return is to return the product to Hong Kong for repairs only, and I am to assume all postage costs. Hopefully I will have no need to return it however.

One thing I forgot to add is that the manual says it supports firmware upgrades but im yet to see any upgrades available from the neodigits website. I dont know if MTK have released any but I would be too afraid to try if they did.

The pixelation you describe is similiar to my findings on the DX-628 player.. and they both share the same chipset.

Let me know if you find that some movies have a visual stuttering effect... low FPS... not smooth in some scenes etc.

Well I ordered off there web sites after sending lots of emails with questions about the performance and what it can and can not play.

Well I bought one and it was delivered via DHL after tracking it on DHL website every day waiting for it to turn up.

It finally got here and I set it up and it was damaged. It had dents across the top of the unit. It would not recognise any DVD, DVDR, CDR, MP3, SVCD, VCD, DIVX, XVID at all. The error was :no disc".

I was not happy.

Sent email to them advising what was going on and they said it may have been the loader unit. Followed his instructions to open the unit and check cables, did all of this but to no avail.

I also sent back pictures of the damage on the unit on the dents and bent plates and scratch's on the unit. The unit had also been opened by the customs department either from there end or mine.

They said they would take care of me and sort this out.

They said they would ship me a new unit by TNT to me the next day and I can return the faulty unit once I have received the working unit.

They wanted me to have a working unit before the faulty unit was shipped back.

The new unit arrived at my house but I was not able to track the shipment by TNT web site tracking due to either TNT did not enter it in or I was supplied a bad shipping number. (was panicing as could not find any shipment details on the web but very happy when it arrived.

The unit works very well. Some movies that are new have not worked due to bad encode but 99% have seemed to work I am happy with that.

I would say their after sales support has been "A RATE" for me and I have had no problems.

Only scare for me was the shipping number they provided I could not use to track the unit. But it arrived.

In sort I am over the moon with the unit and there after sales support and I am extremely happy with the quality on the movies on screen. I could not see any pixelation problems with my unit.
