I have been wondering if the feature that automatically turns certain letters into stars could be made optional here. It can be done on some other sites.

But then we would be able to see all the naughty words :p
(don't think it's a good idea)

Not without lots of modding... the swear words are filtered when you make a post, not when you read one.

It would have to be modded so that there is no swear filter when the data is saved for a post. And then incorperate a feature that turns a filter on or off when a user reads posts.

sorry but does that imply hermit that you want to see things like that. I think the system is pretty good the way it is, and posts with too much swearing and what not are fortunently spotted and deleted pretty well by the'big brothers' :PI

What I had in mind, was to let the user decide whether to see asterisks or the actual letters. Some other sites let you select one way or another. The thought ocurred to me when I saw a reference to Dick Smith and another to a cockroach plague.
