I used to be able to delete single newsgroup post in outlook express by
simply highlighting the post and pressing delete on the keyboard.

Since formatting my hard drive it no longer allows me to do this, i press
delete and nothing happens. Now the only way i can delete posts is by going
into tools>options>maintainence>clean up now>delete
this method deletes all newsgroup posts.

Could someone please advise me so I can restore the setting that allows me
to simply delete individual posts.

Thanks in advance.

You can't delete individual posts, amongst other things, until you install
the service pack for OE located here:

If you reinstalled windows, that mean you have a lot of updates to download
(if you're the type who likes to keep windows up to date).

Well, that's my 2 cents worth for today.
Damn you all top posters!

I was wondering if there is a trick to installing sp1 for internet explorer
6 as I keep getting an error stating it doesn't comply with windows xp and
it automatically aborts the update. Since it will not install the sp1 it
will not let me run the update you suggested, do you have any other
suggestions.

Sorry if I'm wrong but can't you just right click at the end of the
toolbar/select customise and add the Delete button to the tool bar?
