Do not buy a dvd-r off someone on eBay. It is "an illegally copied and burnt DVD" or a "backup DVD". You can backup in the privacy of your own home, but to flog off copied or "bootlegged" software to an unsuspecting consumer is plainly wrong. Warning: watch out for suspect titles, such as rare titles (that seem to have a DTS logo on the front when the real version does not) -these are "fakes"/pirated copies.

If you are purchasing a movie of ebay and it is a dvd-r that would seem to indicate that it is not legitimate (buyer beware) unless of course you are buying someones home movie maybe???

Anyway to the question at hand, dvd-r is a recordable format, not sure if your player is compatible, most are though. You can have a look at www.dvdrinfo.com and have a look at the player compatibility list and see if your player is listed.

I can tell you for sure your unit will play dvd-r disc's, but i would not suggest tp but a dvd-r off ebay, it will be a copy of the movie not the original and while the copy will look very good, it is no where near the quality of the original, in oder to make the original movie fit onto a blank dvd-r they usually need to be compress, as well as perhaps the menu and extra features or sound tracks deleted.

An original dvd can hold upto around 9gb of information while a dvd-r disc can only hold 4.7gb this means people need to delete the extra's to make it fit as well as compress (lower the picture quality), it does not look to bad, but why pay someone when your not getting the full quality.

Blank dvd-r's can be purchased for around $1.20 to $1.50 these days, so to pay $$$ for it is wrong, this guy who is selling them needs to be stopped, he is probably auctioning off it to the top bidder, if he is the one copying them then he can make as many copies as he wants, seems wrong to bid for it.

just my views.
