Hi
I'm about to get a panasonic AE-500. I have a 10 metre run from the DVD to
the projector. My question is am I likely to notice a difference between
using a good component cable such as jaycars wb-1550 vs using a quad
shielded RG6 ? I've posted the details for the component cable below:
This is a triple cable (6 x 18mm), with 3 single shielded cables for audio
left, right and video.
Inside cable insulation is colour coded - Red, white and yellow.
Each cable is 6mm diameter.
- Inner conductor: - 0.12mm 25 OFC
- Insulator: 3.1mmFPE coloured
- Shield: 14mm aluminium foil
- Braid: 0.12mm/6 x 16 tinned OFC
- Jacket: PVC 6 x 18mm non migration
- Capacitance: 75 pf/m between conductor and shield
The cable will run between two wall plates so i will also need 2 short
component cables, would it be best to make these with RG6 also ?
Thanx !

From the description it sounds like a composite cable (2x audio & 1 video).
A component cable will be 3 separate cables for video only.
Just get 3 separate RG59 or RG6 cables made up. You wont notice the
difference if you terminate them at wallplates and then use the same cabling
from the wallplates to the equipment. I personally wouldnt terminate the PJ
end into a wallplate, just let the cables come out of the ceiling, you will
never change them.
Checkout these guys questronix.com.au they made my cables to the length I
required and terminated them with whatever I needed. It wasnt too expensive
either. $4.70 per metre then $45 per cable to make them up.

Thanx for the advice, i did want to use a wall plate as they are actually
coming out of a wall, not the ceiling but i can probably conceal it, and
would be cheaper anyway.
