Not sure if this works as I only bought the player today but this is what I was told -
Connect through AV
No Disc in Unit
Power on
Wait for no disc Display
Press subtitle
press 7,6,8,8,4
Logo appears on left of screen
Press 9
Open from unit
close from unit
All done
Hope this works for you..

Using this process or another. I still haven't been able to make it work. I would be interested.
Great unit though...

Were any of you able to get this to work. I haven't been able to get it going yet with the above method. (The numbers show in the top left and change when I select a new region but after completing the process my R1 DVDs still don't work :()

Not sure if this is the same but with earlier model Samsungs the process had to be done within a fixed (very short) time frame or it didn't work. There were also different codes used depending on which country the unit was originally intended for, the process looks correct but the numbers may be different.

That will fix the problem, it did for the 2 units i bought. Cheers.

Excellent work Frigjam. You are the first to get it and now my player is finally region free. Appreciate it greatly. I knew it could be done but just couldn't get the combination.
Also if you see your different region DVD's look jumpy and flash up and down the screen, you are connected through the composite connection and not the DVD connection. Change and it all works. And just for confirmation here is the sequence that worked for me to make region free.
Turn on player and make sure there is no DVD and it's set to DVD
Pull the power cable from the wall
Plug it back in
Connect through AV
Power on
Wait for no disc Display
Press subtitle
press 7,6,8,8,4
Logo appears on left of screen
Press 9
Press subtitle again
Open from unit
close from unit
Turn off
Unplug the unit
ALL DONE
Hope that helps and thanks again to frigjam!!! :dD

Many thanks for the great postings.
Am still having problems with a jumpy screen playing DVD's from Region 1.
Not sure if the video connections are correct but have tried all combinations and problem persists.
Have followed the sequence posted by Frigjam & Edgeman.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Jumpy playback won't be to do with region code settings, could be the NTSC to PAL conversion causing it though, some players do this better than others. If your TV can do NTSC try changing the setting and see how it goes, also have a look if your player has the Quasi-Pal option in the menu you might try it setting it opposite to its current setting and check your results.

Few questions. I have tried the hack a few times but it still doesnt play my region 9 DVDs normally.
I have had the player for a while - can i still apply the hack?
Should it work on the first time or do you keep trying until it does work?
Should i reset the player or anything before i do hack?
Hope someone out there can reply to me. Thanks in advance!
