Just got myself a projector and this might seem like a dum question but I
can't seem to find the answer anywhere in the manual, on the net or in
newsgroups. What is the refresh rate of projectors?

I know that they are all progressive in nature but do they run at whatever
rate the signal is fed i.e. 50Hz PAL, 60Hz NTSC? If that is the case why is
it that I don't see any 'field flicker' when I can clearly see it on my much
smaller TV when it is running in progressive mode?

thanks in advance for any info

I was wondering about this too - I'm thinking about buying an Optoma H30
from the USA and was worried about compatibility. I posted a question in
AVSForum.com and got the following reply which may help answer your question
too.

"The Australian HDTV transmission standard is indeed different from North
America. But the signal still needs to be received by a HTPC, satellite or
cable box receiver where it will need to be converted to a component (analog
signal) so that the H30 can then change it back to a 1080i/50 digital
signal. At this point, if you look at the Optoma H30 specs, it supports
vertical refresh rates between 43 and 85 Hz. Since the 1080i signal is being
transmitted at 50Hz (rather than 60 Hz as in North America) the projector
should have no problem displaying it."

What pj did you get and are you happy with it?

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks for the info Steve, I got an Hitachi PJTX10 and am very happy with
it. It has an excellent picture, 16:9 LCD panels and horizontal/vertical
movable optics, I'd highly recommend it.

cheers
