I'm in the market for a widescreen tv. After looking at a few, the
Phillips 32PW8521 has caught my eye.

I've seen it around the $1799 mark (reduced from $2000) at Megamart. Retravision didn't have it specifically in stock but could only give me a quote of $1850 for it.

Anyone one had any experience with these? I believe this model is fairly new to the Australian market. I'm open to suggestions of models around the same price mark from other companies but can't really justify anything above $2000 budgetwise.

I'm pretty sure this TV isn't High Definition TV capable but that's not really an issue/drawback for me.

Heres' the Philips product page for it
here (http://www.consumer.philips.com/global/b2c/ce/catalog/product.jhtml;jsessionid=BLJZUSB0E0KYRJ0RMRERX13HK FSEKHAW?divId=0&groupId=TV_GR&catId=WIDESCREEN_TV_CA&subCatId=29_32_WIDESCREEN_TV_SU&productId=32PW8521)

edit: I note its not listed yet at

An unrelated question - if I was to hook up my Logitech Z-680's 5.1 speaker system to these for sound output would I use coaxial or optical - the Logitech's take both and I was wondering which was better if indeed one is better.

Point of much debate... optical is expensive for long runs but doesn't
suffer from RF interference. Good shielded coax is usually more flexible
and the RF interference thing generally doesn't come into play unless the
cable is long and near in-wall power cables etc

I just purchased a Panasonic 76PW200A for 2400 from Clive Peeters. It was thru someone who works there so keep ur eyes open as the prices for this are gonna keep tumbling down.

I had initially bought a Panasonic 76PW150A and thank god it was a bad product. I had to return it under warranty and paid a li'l extra and got this one. It is waaaaaay better than its predecessors and the image quality is much better even on the analogue service.

I am getting Foxtel Digital next week and that's when the true colours will come out.

Can't wait.

Cheers,
