View Full Version : Xms 750
I just got an XMS 750, i am very happy with it, apart from the fact that my TV has not got any inputs. This means it has to go through my VCR. This makes the picture go bad, as it thinks i am trying to copy the movie. I thought it only started going funny when you hit the record button, has anybody got any ideas to get around this ?

That's weird - I thought the XMS750 had macrovision (that's the stuff that makes your picture go bad) disabled out of the box! Try looking up the words 'XMS 750 macrovision' in a seach engine, or failing that go back to where you bought it (SCR, presumably) and ask them how to disable macrovision.
Either that, or take it back and swap it for an Omni SL-P3200. :D

Yes, it should.
Problem is there is more than one version of the
XMS-750 and they seem to be different here and there.
Especially with the multizone codes.
The original XMS-750's had macrovision off all the time.
Perhaps the new ones require you to set it to Region 0?
BJK, I would make sure your player is set to region 0
and try it again. There are at least two different
codes to change regions, try them all.
I made it multi-zone but still no change in the picture, we rang Strathfield and we were told that it couldn't be disabled on the 750, but we could exchange it for the newer model which you could. I decided not to exchange it though, for the following reason -
We brought home an XMS and were told it had a 5.1 decoder built in. (surprise surprise, we get home it has no decoder)
We then exchanged it for an OMNI SL2000, this was my christmas present so i didn't get to test it till christmas day. Another surprise, it wouldnt take any discs.
We took it back on the 27th Dec, we got to the store and found there was a line up, after a 40 minute wait we finally got inside and found it to be just as busy inside, fortunetly we were able to exchange it trouble free again, for the XMS 750 (he didnt even bother to check out the player we were brining back, he didnt even open the box to check it was in there.)
So as you might understand, i couldnt be bothered with taking it back for another exchange, and im just puting up with the bad picture until i get a new TV.

Hi,
I bought the XMS 750 from Strathfield and it has the dolby digital 5.1 decoder onboard! It also has no problems playing through to my tv from my vcr (actually through two vcr's) and then to my TV. I can record with no problems or glitches. One thing you might be able to try is to change your region to the region of the DVD, also check what your colour system is set to, make sure you are using PAL not the simul sysyem (which I believe is the default).
Hope this helps, cheers
Apparenty an RF adapter will enable me to run it fine through my TV. However Tandy has none in store, and Dicksmiths said that they all went out in the christmas rush, and it will be a couple of weeks untill they get any more in ! so looks as though i will have to wait. or does anybody know of where i can get one now?
