This first post will give me a chance to introduce myself so hello to all .
With regards to the show , my wife and i just returned about half hour ago and in my opinion , a waste of $32 ( for the both of us ) .
There were about 8 stands actually worth checking out but apart from that , it was terrible and no where near the good old days of the Carlton Exhibition Centre .
Id say about 35 - 40 stalls in all ( including Jims new franchise of " Jims Theatre " ) . Epson didnt have a bad projector display but for anyone to tell you their mid priced LCD projectors craps all over a CRT Sony G70 - 90 , then it shows they are full of their product and do talk a bit of crap to sell their items .
There was a very good display there and i think the people were from Visual Supercomputing and even though they must have spoken to over 1000 people by the time i rocked up , they still treated me and others as if they were their first customers for the day . Their prices on screens was also outstanding .
Jims Home theatre seemed like they wanted to go home so forget about service from them as they made you feel like you were just taking their time .
Not really much else but as i said , about 8 respectable displays whos stand alone speakers spoke more bass than Wintels Suwoofers .
All in all , not recommended save your $16 and hire a few movies .

The Halcro setup is pretty impressive . VAF's sound wall interesting. New

Isn't today the last day - those who planned to go have gone...like me.
The Halcro stand and may be the Ambient is the only worthwhile.

What about the stuff upstairs? The equinox stuff was pretty impressive and they had some of the chinese Jungson gear on show too. Good chance to see some really high end stuff, albeit in a less than pefect environment for a good listen.
VAF only had their new speakers to listen to - although they were running their cube speakers in another room.

Yes , listening conditions definately not the best . The high end stuff was not only unable to be positioned the best but was also drowned out by cheaper boomboxes in the room , almost sounded like the auto salon boom box show a few weeks before ....lol
Jims Home theatre seemed like they wanted to go home so forget about service from them as they made you feel like you were just taking their time .
I really wanted some advice on the projectors they had, I was standing there for 5 minutes and did not bother to serve me.

XSR , as their first name says " JIMS " , even their advice would be organised to a budget so i doubt you missed out on much advice .
I asked a simple question on the screen they were using and it was just a Piss off attitude as it wasnt going to make a sale for them .
Id prefer to pay extra and receive service ( not that these people dont charge that is ) .
Anyway , i do give them the benefit of the doubt as they probably did talk to thousands over the 4 or so days and i must have been one of those that just rubbed up the wrong way .

Don't forget that they had a lot of home ideas show people walking through, maybe they were getting sick of dumb questions! This is not an excuse, maybe just a possible reason why.
who had the halcro setup? a retailer?
Yea. bit of a let down. You would think that Sony, Marantz, Denon,
Pioneer, Onkyo would have their full range on Display. One of the
stands that interested me was Soundlabsgroup. Make your own speakers
etc. any thoughts?
The show is an absolutely usless place to check out speakers. No sound
proof rooms to appreciate good audio. I seen the Whatmough Synergy
speakers there. Very nice.
Was it a waste of money going to the show? Yup.

The show was a shambles for enthusiasts and I felt sorry for the exhibitors. Trying to show products in those surroundings almost became a " Whose sounds loudest competition ".
The only good thing foe me was an opprtunity to listen to VAF signatures I-66. Despite the terrible ambience they sounded great... I bought a I-66 & I-91 surrouns package....their brilliant!!!
