the review at www.projectorcentral.com is a good start, as far as my opinion
goes it was perfect straight out of the box, didn't really need to tweek it
at all. Great colors, low fan noise, easy to use. Just projecting onto a
white wall atm and am very impressed with the result. Use DVI or component
cabling if possible.

For whats its worth Ive seen both the Z2 (via DVI) & AE500 (via component).
Both are very similar but I liked the colours and less pixelisation on the panasonic better. (on the other hand Z2 has variable aperature and lense shift).

Which Benq did you see, the 6100 or 6200?

6200, so a fair comparison, I would think.

Really....from what Ive heard the 6200 is supposed to be a decent XGA DLP
for the price with 2000:1 contrast and 1700 ANSI lumens. In what way was the
picture worse than the Panasonic.
Did you notice rainbows on the 6200?

What type of screen are you projecting on? How does it go in normal room
light (not blaring sunlight coming in the room)

Normal lighting in a room is still very good and I am still using my
original screentechnics white screen

Should I look at a specific type of screen to enhance the contrast more????

thanks

Theres a grey screen people in AV forums talk about or a paint you can get
too....it helps contrast and make blacks look blacker.
Have you noticed vertical banding? It seems to be something some people
criticise this model for.

There's stuff called screen goo, which is a reflective grey paint, meant to
be very good, haven't tried it yet, www.goosystems.com and they have a
supplier in melbourne. Depending on the room light and projector there are
different types you can use.

In normal light the panny is still pretty good, not as high impact as when
dark but i was initially thinking i might need a small lcd or something to
watch tv in the day but i don't think i need to now.

Vertical banding is visible, but only because i spent months reading up
about the panny and was looking for it, i've tried 'tweaking' it out but to
avail. I suggest trying as hard as you can to forget about it, and you'll
probably never notice it. Keep in mind it's one of the cheapest projectors
you can buy atm, so it's not going to be perfect. Every one who's seen it so
far has been amazed at both the size and quality of the picture.
