I recently purchased a new TV..Philips 32PW9527.....and have Austar (regional pay TV).....now my problem is that when i go to setup in austar and set aspect ratio to 16:9 i get black bars either side of image...now if i set up my TV to widescreen and have Austar set to 4:3 cropped it cuts out a small amount of the bottom and top...any help would be great....

I thought I had the same problem.

What it is, is that only some channels are broadcast in digital.

So what ive done is set the set-top box to 16:9, and then change the 4:3
programs to stretch.

What will happen programs that are recorded in 16:9 will fill your 16:9 TV
But programs that are recorded in 4:3 will still show as 4:3 format on your
widescreen TV. So yes you will still see the black bars on the side.
Its just the way it is with digital. You'll notice the channels like the
cartoon channels and others will fill your screen coz they arent broadcast
in digital.

Hope that helps

Daniel
