According to these stats, the Gamecube sold 9% of what the XBox did. LOL You're going to trusts stats from a pro-xbox site? HAHAHAHAHA. Besides, it's not about selling consoles it's about selling games.

I think the GC will die in Oz first.

So I am gonna do the smart thing and get myself the NTSC model when I can and always be guaranteed to play games the way they should be :D - playing games in full screen and at faster game play that is:D

ANd now with the exchange rate getting better, getting games from the US will probably work out cheaper anyway.

It doesn't really bother me, cause I can get a freeloader and use my GC as an import machine, hence why i'm gonna import wrestlemania 19 which is due out in august, and NBA jam 2004 which is due out in late october if they take ages to be released here... :D

PAL vs NTSC/ 50HZ vs 60HZ however doesn't really bother me, I play the games i'm not going to marry the machine..:D

R1 vs R2 vs R3 vs R4 doesn't really bother me either whichever has the better version an I like the film then I will get it in that particular region.

Well if you think the GameCube is about to drop off don't buy one. Of course that will mean no Zelda Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart Double Dash, F-Zero, Mario Golf, Super Monkey Ball, SSBM or Super Mario Sunshine.

You'll also be missing out on playable Link in Soul Calibur 2 :D

nintendo are not about to relinquish any market share.
Knowing this because I sepnt 6 and 1/2 years financing their (and sega's) operation in Australia. Nintendo are struggling but they will pull through, they have a loyal fan base, and lets face it, Goldeneye on N64 was and is the best, plus I still wet myself when I play four player mario cart !!
and I am not biased, because I have a GC, PS2 and a crapbox, the xbox is ok, I just dont like it. The ps2 is my fav, but I love my old N64 like a brother

That's b##**#t, none of my friends go for piracy. Piracy does not effect it's popularity.

I myself recently bought an Xbox because of the modchip and HDD capability. I remember buying a PS1 back in 1998 because of modchips, and so did ALL of my friends.

GC is crap now, the latest wrestling game on it was a disappointment. I haven't tried RAW 2, but SD5 is very good and better since it has a season mode & it beats GC's wonky story mode, I don't think i will ever buy a GC game again, unless it would be under $10.

I own All Three Systems and the X-Box is the best then the PS2
When you think about it the gamecube can't even compare to the other two
it dosen't have a dvd player, you can't play cd's in it and most of the games for it a babyish.

CD's and DVD's aren't a factor for me. Just the gaming.

PS2 is my preferred as it lets me play those Final Fantasy's... Plus when I purchased my system back in November 2000 the only rivals were N64 and Dreamcast so at the time, it was ahead of the competition.

I'd go a gamecube next as the exclusives it has appeal to me.. ie, F Zero and Mario Kart.

But if I was a new gamer that had no allegances or gaming preferences, I think x-box would be the way to go...

Many in here will feel that a GameCube is the worst of the three consoles - but that is primarily because Nintendo have virtually planned it that way. After Sega's demise, Nintendo realised that they weren't safe and cosy, so they grabbed onto the one thing they knew was safe - the pre-teen market. More specifically, the PARENTS of the pre-teen market.

Ask 100 average 18 - 30 year olds what system they would prefer, you won't get many answers of GameCube. But ask 100 average parents what system they would prefer to get their kid, and you'll get a better response. It's cheap, the games are virtually all good (because of Nintendo's strict controls) and most games squarely target the kiddies (not that we can't have fun with them). There aren't many games, but parents can be confident that whatever they buy will be good - and parents don't want to be buying PS2 magazine and testing demos to work out the good from the crap.

As long as Nintendo focus on this market, they will never die. PS2, PSX, PS3, XBox, XBox2 - they will never take this market, because it doesn't really interest them. They would prefer (as I would) to have thousands of games, with lots of crap ones, than 40 really good games. Let the consumers decide what's good and what isn't - and most of their customers are happy to read internet reviews, rent the game first or buy a reviews magazine.

Thats very true, DAMN microsoft!! they stole RARE... / brought them out! argh now Perfect Dark: Zero will never appear on gc + no more good 007 either.. like golden eye on n64! argh nintendo should of kept rare knowing in the long run it would make them millions!

EDIT: Another thing the gamecube is light and portable good for going on holidays because they wont take up much room, also since they dont have a dvd playter thats 1 of the reasons y they r soo cheap .. but who needs a dvd player? if u get a mod chip 4 ur ps2 u'll have to disable your dvd player.. also gc is going live too / are in usa
