Answer to the above question follows, in spoiler space just in case anyone doesn't want to know.
It isn't revealed to the bachelors until the very end of the series, the final episode I believe.

That's mean...that's despicable...that sounds like a show worth watching! But seriously...how could they get away with it? The poor bastards must sign some total responsibility waver....because you can rest assured these guys will be throwing tongues down her throat. They'll never live it down with their mates.

i heard somewhere that a couple of the guys were threatening to sue etc (it is the US afterall) for mental anguish, embarrassement etc. dont know what the outcome of it was though.

The contestants entered a class action lawsuit for compensation and sought to have the show blocked from airing. They were unsuccessful (obviously, given that it's screening :)).
If things continue like this reality television will be dead soon, as they will run out of contestants willing to risk the evil twists in store for them. :D

I'm amazed anyone agrees to these shows. It was bad enough when it was straight blind dating...but the twists make you wonder how desperate these people are for fame. It makes Blade Runner look like a possible reality.

i got an email about this show in november last year and i have put it below. Please do not read it if u want to know how the show ends as it reveals everything.
THIS is the model beauty six bachelors try desperately to bed in a new reality show - unaware she was born a MAN.
The hapless lads spend weeks battling to seduce the South American stunner in Sky One series, there's Something About Miriam.
But while viewers know her secret from the start, the boys only discover he truth after Miriam picks the winner, then lifts her skirt to reveal a full set of wedding tackle.
One embarrassed contestant was so furious at the shock revelation that he PUNCHED the show's producer. Now all six fellas have launched a legal bid to stop the humiliating show going on air. They are also suing TV
bosses for sexual assault. Miriam is a pre-op transsexual, often
called a shemale, which means she still has male genitalia.
But her suitors - who include an aspiring actor, an ex-lifeguard and ski
instructor, a chef and a Royal Marine Commando - know nothing about
this as they kiss, cuddle and grope her on screen.
A Sky insider said: "Miriam and the lads are all filmed 24 hours a day
at a luxury villa in Ibiza. "The boys have to do whatever they can to
impress her before she picks her favourite. "And at the end of the two
weeks, she breaks the shock news that she is a transsexual. It's the
lads' worst nightmare." The show, presented by Tim Vincent, is due to start on Sky One on November 16 at 9pm.
But the fuming contestants, who fear they will be a laughing stock, have
hired celebrity law firm Schillings to bring legal action against Sky
and production company Brighter Pictures. They intend to sue for
conspiracy to commit a sexual assault, because they didn't consent to
be kissed and fondled by a man. They are also determined to sue for
defamation, breach of contract and personal injury. Schillings have
insisted the programme be delayed until the legal dispute is settled.
All six lads signed papers handing producers free reign to use any
footage before filming. Yet they now claim they were duped - and have
begged telly watchdogs the Independent Television Commission to stop
the programme going on air.
A show insider said: "The men had no idea that Miriam was a
transsexual. "They are horrified because there are shots of them snogging, cuddling and groping her. "At the end of the show she sat them down and told them, 'I've got something to show you', then lifted up her skirt."One
lad was so outraged he hit the producer in the face. It's the cruellest
reality show yet."

Hmm, and I thought the "Average Joe" series was cruel... This one takes the cake for the really distasteful.

The show sounds interesting, I'll probably tune in for a few episodes, watching all the way through with the 'cringe' expression set on high.
Is it just me, or does Miriam share a lot of likeness with Jordana Brewster, From The fast and the furious??

They really have to be so careful when shows do stupid things like this, remember a few years back when one guy on a talk show found out about a girl being a guy and after the show was aired he actually killed him. It was in all the news can't remember the details excatly.

There was a chat show in the US where a gay guy revealed a crush he had on a straight guy, he was killed by the object of his affection a month or so later. I think that was the Jenny Jones show from memory.
I'm not sure if that's the one you're thinking of.

Apparently a contestant punched some of the producers after finding out.
I'm interested to see whether or not this show succeeds..

I think it's hilarious. I'll definitely watch it! And that's saying something -- i hate reality TV. Kudos to them for actually thinking up an original concept though. Poor taste, for sure, but at least it's a change from the usual drivel. (eg. BB4.. is channel 10 fooling anybody but themselves?)
I wonder if Miriam sounds manly. She'd have to have a fairly squeaky voice to get away with it. Like Courtney Act... damn fine piece of work right there. She and Miriam are more attractive than most legit women. And i have to say, Courtney has amazing balance in stilettos. If i danced the way she does in those shoes, i'd be going A over T in 2 seconds!

Sounds like this show is right up your alley Diabolical ;)
I'd heard about this show quite a while ago but figured that the contestants had won the court case since it's been months since I last heard anything. You have to feel sorry for the poor guys who signed up for this, but on the other hand it would make very interesting watching.

I can't wait for it to start, it is going to be such a laugh watching it. Finally some hot lovin reality tv :)
I feel sorry for the guys :( But that's silly for me to say that really , because l'll probably watch it for a laugh. So then l feel sorry for the guys but going to laugh at their misfortune....... oh well all is fair l guess if you go in those shows.
Jerry Springer a while back ( l don't watch the show anymore ) but there was a lady on the show letting her busband know she's been unfaithful and running off with someone else, the husband shot her after the show so l think those sort of shows are worse. :rolling: l can't see why people would talk about their personal affairs on tv :rolling: , l don't even know if Jerry Springer is on anymore but l hate all those sort of shows they pi*ss me off.
Starts NEXT Tuesday 8.30pm (Channel 10)

Hmm, it's up against CSI in my TV viewing schedule, so I might tape the first episode and see if its worth bothering after that. :)
