Had a quick chat to a mate about this last night and I was wondering what you guys and girls thought about this?
Which of the Kill Bill movies do you prefer? Vol 1 or Vol 2?

I enjoyed part 2 a lot better because it was just more outrageous, and somewhat unexpected. Of course, you needed to have watched through part 1 in the first place, in order to be properly rewarded with the 'surprises' in part 2. So it's all good, really.

I can't split them - Vol 1 is a ridiculously fun rollercoaster action ride, but Vol 2 is probably the better 'movie' with a stronger plot and deeper characterisation. They are very different, but I think I enjoyed them equally.
(or perhaps I'm just a cowardly fence-sitter who's afraid of commitment, even to a film :D)

Haha, and yet he's still to post his views.
You posted at 12.18.
I would of thought he'd have his epic post up by about 12.30 ;)
I can't comment as yet as I only know half the story, but I'll probably see Vol. 2 sometime next week. :D

vol1 had more excitement. vol2 dragged on a bit.

Vol 1 seemed a bit random, the time jumped all over the place. Not as strong substance as Vol 2, but fantastic eye candy in terms of effects like the cartoon and final fight sequence with O-Ren Ishii. Vol 1 seemed like typical Tarantino to me... i loved it, but Vol 2 definitely impressed me more. Character development, storyline (like you said Oz), and you just can't beat that samurai mentor with the beard (forget his name). Classic.

I have to agree 99% with Harvs. The two volumes are very different which is why they are hard to split between the two as they can't really compare to each other. I loved the anime with O-Ren Ishii but I thought the storyline and 'feel' was much better in Vol 2. Plus Pai Mei's seens were classic :dD

what a lot of people seem to forget is that this was never meant to be 2 movies it was always supposed to be 1 movie then on the last day, tarentino was told that all the stuff was so good that they didnt want to cut any of it so then he could turn it into 2 movies
i think they were both great and the way they were done was brilliant
vol 1 was the action packed intro to get u hooked and wondering what happens coz u are left with heaps of questions about the plot and the characters
vol 2 was the story driven sequel that answered all ur questions but nothing happend the way u thought it would need i remind viewers about the final fight scene with bill?
most people who i have heard say they didnt like vol 2 was coz it didnt have the same level of violence as vol 1 but i dont think these people fully understood the way it was done

nicely put, i enjoyed the second film more than the first despire what the reviews say about it being slow... (it needs to fill the plot out!)... in all a great set of Tarantino films...

Although they were intended to be 1, they are presented seperately non the less, and very different. I look forward to owning both, and watching them in sequence.
KB1 just totally blew me away. I was expecting more of the same, but was pleasantly surprised that KB2 wasnt, classic stuff. The way it ended (Bill) gave me belly laughs for some strange reason that I cant put my finger on, but hey, thats the genius of Tarantino.

I kinda think the films are better seperate. They're so different. Putting them together as one film might not work as well. But I digress....
I prefer Kill Bill Vol 2 :D

I enjoyed Kill Bill: Volume 1 more then Volume 2. I found the first one to have a better storyline and how violent the first one was is what made me enjoy it a lot more. I found the second one to be alright, quite funny actually with the Pei Mei part in Volume 2...that was a crack up! but yeah I'd pick Volume 1 over 2...don't get me wrong though, both movies were good :)

Vol. 1 at this stage but with multiple viewings who knows.
Be interesting to watch it as one film, and see how it goes

I remember hearing how originally Kill Bill was suppose to be one movie...then the decision came to split it in to 2 movies. It would have been interesting if both were combined into one

I agree, they are both great and hilarious movies. Perhaps vol.2 wins by a nose, but they are both awesome

I heard they are releasing both Kill Bill 1 & 2 as one movie in cinemas at the end of the year. Anyone else hear this?
Or did some die hard fan make it up?

i heard quentin tarantino on MMM and he said that some cinemas in the US were going to be playing them back to back with an intermission between them
also the DVD is only going to be released in one go, dont know if its going to be combined on 1 disc or if it will be 2 discs, either way it should be good

I'd love to see them back to back, not just on DVD but at a cinema. So I hope they do that here.
