The ones that broadcast to the U.S. I guess you are after american domestics
like ABC, CBS , NBC etc

Unfortunately they don't beam to our part of the world except as the
occasional feed channel on Pas2 or I701. Well actually there are some
American channels on B3, but don't bother unless religion is what your
after.

You can't see FTA North American channels. Have a look at an atlas.

What about FOX news (American version) or CNN international -- aren't
they available FTA via satellite down under (I am not going to take up
the domestic pay tv services) but prepared to spend a lot more for a
sateelite dish, automatic tracker, etc to watch o/s channels......

Anything other than the unadulterated rubbish dished up on Australian
FTA TV........

Fox News is available via pay television only; CNNI is sourced out of
Hong Kong and is not the same feed as from the US. Do you seriously
think that NBC, CBS and ABC are going to put their channels on
satellites which are seen in Australia even though they don't have the
rights to transmit outside the US?

The programs are placed on satellites; not the whole channel.
