Best Sequels of All Time

Might as well have this to go with the Worst Sequels thread. :)

In your opinion, what movie sequels do you think were as good as, or even better than the original?

I'll start it off with a few of my favourites:
Batman Returns
Toy Story 2
Terminator 2
X2 (X-Men United)

I do like Toy Story, Batman, and X-men alot, but I like Terminator 2 much more than the original. :)

Yes, I agree with you there. Some of my favourite sequels include:
Rocky III and IV
Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (if it counts), The Godfather II, Final Destination II, Evil Dead III, Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

I don't think FD2 was mentioned. I loved them both, FD2 was quite unpredictable for a horror sequel, normally they're ridiculously easy to forecast. I'd like to add:

Drunken Master II
Police Story 2
Police Story 3: Supercop

Terminator 2, whilst not as good as the original, is still excellent for a sequel.

Back To The Future 2 and 3 as good as 1. And l love all the Rocky's, they all have great story lines and l just love them. :)

i really enjoyed Shanghai Knights, the sequel to shanghai noon.... it might have been because i was in england at the time and the acent was funnier becuase i was over there...
but yeh godfather, star wars, indiana jones... all good!

l hated the 1st one, so didn't bother with the 2nd. My daughters love both but they like some movies l hate, but most we all agree on. :)

Austin Powers 2. :)
By far surpassed the first. But they should have ended it there on a good note -- the third was a shocker. Its only saving grace was Beyonce.

yup defiantly agree there..

other good sequels I thought were:

Ace Ventura 2
LOTR: The two towers (the only one I liked out of the batch).
Back to the future 2 & 3 (as SHY mentioned..)

that's about it for me.. sequels just mostly suck.

I think we have a few good contenders coming up though, i.e. spiderman 2, Starwars 3..

What about Shrek 2? that should be good. I don't think i'll say the same about Scooby Doo 2, but it may be better on account of the first one being so bad! Shaggy just didn't have the Beat-nick stoner appeal of the cartoons.

I'm hanging out for Kill Bill 2, haven't had a chance yet but i know i'll love it. It's Tarantino come on!
