Been playing around with the TV reception here in Adelaide, figure I should
be able to get Spencer Gulf north dig if I do it right. Why? Because I can
- and I can watch the cricket if it is on in Adelaide.
VHF analogue get ABNS1 OK so there is signal. UHF needs more work on both
the antenna and cabling, but that can be sorted.
But with dig boxes haven't seen specs on sensitivity. Any thoughts? I've
just got an el cheapo Thomson SD one that works fine on local stuff.

I've tried what you're doing in reverse. Tried an STB in Burra (to pick up
Adelaide), but found that I needed some serious antenna work (I think I was
receiving signal off the cable alone!) & I wasn't going to climb the 10m
mast to try & sort it out (I'd get patches of signal at night). I'd say
you'd need a separate antenna to your Adelaide one (facing the right way)
with a masthead amp. I live in Sydney & get Wollongong fine (for the
cricket!) with a Teac DVB-400 (which I used in the Burra experiment) & not
so well with a Strong SRT-5290, so the sensitivity matters. What channels
are the Spencer Gulf North Stations using? I get UHF from Wollongong from a
VHF/UHF antenna pointing about 150 degrees the wrong way, so anything's
possible..... Good luck,

Sorry for the holdup in replying, laptop has been in getting repaired so
no news reader!
What sparked the interest was someone here a while ago in Adelaide
commenting they had problems getting the locals but were getting what was
obviously Spencer Gulf North. At Torrens Park they are a bit more
elevated than me, but that has made me think it has to be possible.
In the new place I have been looking at whether I can put up an external
antenna, still working out whether this is allowed or if I can just do
it. Nothing written in the rules that says no however. To the north will
be another block that will make life a bit harder though.
SGN channels are UFH band 4.
