Complaint: dvd fan (not dvdfan from PLAZA)

Well, looks like it's never too late to get burned on the internet, dvd fan purchased a dvd from me back in November and has promised to pay for it at the end of that month, he messaged me on 14th of November saying that the item has arrived but untill now he still didn't pay for it.

I have messaged and e-mailed him several times over the past 2 months politely asking for the payment, even suggesting that he sends the disc back to me if he didn't want it any longer, unfortunately this member turned out to be a liar and he didn't even reply to any of my messages and e-mails.

I have made the mistake of trusting him by sending the disc out before receiving a payment, i can't believe that he would do such a thing but unfortunately it happened...very disappointing :(

Edit: Just a quick note to say that dvd fan has now paid me for the DVD. The Trader References section is definately a good idea.

I haven't had any probs with him before.
Although he hasn't been on for a while and I believe he was away interstate or something.
A few months is a long time to wait though :(

I've seen him in the forums quite a bit over the last month or so. He was invisible a lot of the time, so anyone other than Admin wouldn't have seen him. - Watcher

I had a DVD go missing in the mail from dvd fan, who told me he had sent the disc and I believe him. He offered to pay the money back to me but I said to be fair I should pay half so we both cop a little of the misfortune. Until now I haven't received any of the money, which is only a small amount but it's not good to offer something to someone and promise them it will happen when it doesn't. :(

You should've seen the fiasco with our ET Deal.

None of these stories shock me as we are all talking about a guy who had the audacity to demand a trade back when he realised HMV weren't bringing out the 3 Disc Set.

Had he been polite, I would've considered it - but he demanded it. Worse still, he mouthed off at me when I refused and started acting very rude and abbrasive both on and off the forums.

To be honest... glad he's gone. He can add Eyo to the list of forums he's been banned from, including Plaza.

I received the dvd (unlike some other unfortunate traders here) but one of them was in bad nick - really bad (he never told me).



Later he sent out another dvd as compensation (that I didn’t want or ask for :rolleyes: ), but when I asked for my one back, he claimed that he swaped it to a mate.



The truth is that he really kept it for himself, because a few months later he traded it to MrMacabre (who was nice enough to offer it back to me first)

So… the dvd he sent was in dodgy condition, and he refused to return my DVD when I complained...



This was a long time ago btw... i never had the guts to tell my story because I thought he was popular here and friends with Watcher (they’re both from Melbourne :o)…. but now i do

I can assure you DigitalG, that I was never "friends[" with this guy. Being in the same city doesn't automatically make us friends.
I try to be impartial in all matters and if a forum "friend" does something wrong, they get treated the same as anybody else. Someone here knows already and I don't appreciate my friendship being taken advantage of in these forums.

I want to put forward something aswell. As a few of you know.

Back with the saga with Jarrod and dvd_fan, we all recall as it was largely publicised. All this garbage of dvd_fan being out of a DVD was not true. He had not sent Bounce. Whether Jarrod would've ripped him off, this is not what I am discussing.

He then say he would not trade it on here, so people did not think of him as a liar, which if he posted this title he would have.

In the end I did trade him. Transaction when smooth, but I cannot help but think he didn't send my package until he watched all the VHS titles I traded him, as it took over 2 weeks for him to send to myself once I had sent the DVD.

does anyone know what happen with this guy? Because i have pending trade with this guy last two weeks and i suppose to have the dvd last week but i didn't get anything. I emailed him last week but no response from him. I hope he won't stang me. :(

Towards the end of the year, he requested a couple of times for his account to be deleted, and after giving him time to think about it the first time, I agreed to close his account after his second request.
I did tell him that he can't come back under another account, so please let us know if he is trading under another name.
It's unfortunate that people are speaking up about their experiences after he has gone and that other people who have had complaints in the past regarding his trades never spoke up.

dvd_fan, if you are reading this thread, I'll give you right of reply to these messages, but you need to contact me first.

Can I just say that the member, dvdfan at DVD Plaza is not this guy you are all talking about. The dvdfan over at DVD Plaza is a totally different person and is a pretty nice guy.

Had a bit of trouble with him a year ago but sorted it out when I offer to come around he forwarded the package same day mind you was 6 weeks late

if you cant post his details then how about just posting the place and post code where he is from so that he cant be caught out trading under another name.

whats stopping him getting a new email and registering as some other name??? how do the admin think they can stop that??

I've traded with pat personally, and picked up/dropped off at his place. Traded with dvd_fan once as well, and it is NOT the same person. Also definitely not the same dvdfan as on DVDPlaza.
