Help!! Have killed my dvd player

I just uploaded the firmware HIT660-2AM for my Hiteker AD 660 and once the upload had finished the disc ejected and the dvd player jammed on "INIT" So I reset the unit and now I can not get any responce from it at all not even a display or signal to television. What have I done wrong and can it be fixed????

Hi,

You probably updated it with the wrong update. Why did you need to upgrade? Region free / macrovision off?

If you don't have a real need you shouldn't upgrade, but I suppose its too late for that talk.

ring up the place that sold you the unit and ask for thier advice. It should be possible to reflash it. If not the repair center should be able to take out the chip that stores the info and either fix it or replace it at a price.

The update was for Region Free, Macrovision disabled and RCE immune. I did some research before doing the update and it was the correct firmware but for some reason it didn't take to well. If anyone has incured a similar problem please let me know.

I really feel for you, I am extremlt hesitant of flash updates. I have heard too many bad stories.

though a flash update to get what you were after would be very tempting to me also.

If you do get it fixed let us know what the resolution was.

Get the centre you got it from to fix it for you. If not then maybe try the guys who make the units (always problems dealing with big companies). Terrible to be without a DVD player!!

I bought the dvd player a couple of years ago so it is way out of warranty and I dont really want to spend money to get back a dvd player I wasnt really happy with.
I have been thinking about upgrading anyway but was gonna give the old one to mum looks like mums going to miss out.

It sure is terrible not having a dvd player, its only been about 6 hours since it broke and I am aready suffering uncontrollable shake and twitches. I'm gonna be a mess tomorrow:PI .

While I'm on the subject If I eventually need to buy a new dvd player can I have a few ideas on what to buy. I will be looking for something with all the features so I wont need to even think of doing any upgrades.

Darren K will reprogramme it FOR FREE..you pay postage too & fro tho !Pretty fast turnaround as well .
Slip him a couple of buck to say thanks tho as he cops alot of **** for the service he offers .

I sent Darren an email and he is more than happy to re-program and upgrade it with the firmware for me free of charge as you mentioned but i'll throw in a few $ so darren can have a couple of beers on me for his trouble.
So I hope by this time next it will be all up and happening again.
This is very good news for now I will be able to invest some cash into a new receiver instead of having to buy a new dvd player strait away.

Tho I made sure I had the Darren "safety net " BEFORE I flashed my rom ...just as well ( tho I have succesfully flashed it a couple of times b4 )
For those who wonder why you'd bother check the site out & the links to the forums to see what can be done. It really is amazing stuff . Plus some people never learn to leave well enough alone :)

Well guys I just got the chip back from Darren and it all up and happening again. Looks like tonight I will kick up the feet and watch some movies, I believe I will start with Minority report (which I have been hanging to see since I missed it at the cinema) and maybe finish it off with Black Hawk Down or even Men of Honour.
