Hi,

Just thought I would share what I have learned...

Recently I received an E-mail from www.lastminute.com.au which included details of DVD rental by mail.
http://www.au.lastminute.com/lmn/pso/catalog/Product.jhtml?CATID=813&PRODID=342235356&POSITION=0

What a great idea, I thought...

I also discovered...

http://www.redcarpet.com.au/
http://webflicks.com.au

I have elected to try www.redcarpet.com.au and at $24.95 a month unlimited exchanges (they pay the postage to and from!), it could be great for people not near video libraries.

Cheers,
M.H.

Never ever ever under ANY circumstances trust ANY OFFER which has UNLIMITED ANYTHING in it. They might have claimed they pay postage but really it's all comming out of YOUR money to make THEM money.

I don't think this sort of rental is a good idea.

I think its a great idea, Only reason I'm not using one of these services is that I have a few video stores in the imediate area and I still havn't got around to getting a credit card.

This would be perfect for people in the country or the middle of australia with NOTHING about. ie, mining towns.

Even if you hire 1 new release a week your still getting your money worth instead of going to the video store on friday or saturday night.

I don't see how they can AVOID paying for postage when they send a return envolope with the dvd's.

I think places like that are relying on the average joe to sign up and then only rent one or two a month.

Then once the credit card billing starts, they just decide to stay members.

That happened to me and iinet internet. Had a 1 month trial pack, and for the past 8 months have been paying $40 a month. Have been saying to myself This is the last month but then keep it..... LOL. :p

Have you tried eurekaDVD (http://www.eurekaDVD.com)? This is an Australia online DVD rental service with no monthly or weekly fees, or return dates. You only pay at the time you hire the movie.

Mark.

You could have a DVD forever but they wouldn't return the deposit you payed.
