I just purchased a Sony AV3000 learning remote control. I have been told
that they can use up batteries ver quickly and its best suited if I get high
capacity rechargable batteries. I was just wondering what brand/rating of
rechargables would best suit this device. I'm leaning towards 2300mah rated
but any advice would be much appreciated.

I think it is probably pretty safe to buy based on capacity per price,
since a remote control is not a demanding application in terms of peak
discharge currents.
If you are particularly concerned about performance, Sanyo probably
have one of the best reputations for rechargables. I was surprised to
find that the Energiser 2100mAh NiMH AA cells are also made in Japan.

You'll probably get longer out of Grandcell rechargeable alks, but if you
already have an NiMH charger, then I don't think there's much between the
brands. Just charge your NiMHs in groups and don't use till cool... if you
do go Grandcell, you can get dual alk/NiMH chargers pretty cheaply from
places like DSE
