As we know, the French Open started on the 24th of May. But where is the free to air coverage? Every year as far as i could remember, channel 7 would replay matches for up to 5 hours everynight for the fortnight. But this year...NOTHING! Expect for this thirty minute hightlights on the ABC at 6 in the morning, which doesn't show any full matches.
What happened, will it be on in the finals week?

For some strange reason I thought it was going to be on ch. 9.
But I completely forgot about it until you mentioned it... so now I also want to know: Where's the tennis???

I can't see any scheduled coverage on any network through until next Saturday - so it looks like no FTA networks decided it was worth the cash.

Channel 9 doesnt bother with the French Open, until the 2nd week of the draw.
If you watch it you'll understand why.....boring boring boring matches
and i do play tennis, i just prefer action tennis, not baseline rallies

Thanks for the replies. I'll be looking forward for the second week. Although i would have loved to see the earlier rounds and see players who usually don't make it past the first round. Eg. Aussie female players :D
As for baseline rallies, they're the best part of the french open. Sitting back and watching the players slog it out in long, powerful rallies.
I watched the French Open highlights at 6pm on the ABC, a few upsets with justine henin hardenne out. Other than that, I'm enjoying my thirty minutes of tennis a day.

I think you'll be disappointed - as I said in my earlier post, I've had a look at the FTA programming through to next Saturday (5th June) and I'm afraid I can't see any coverage of the Open at all.

There's a possibility it might be on some time in the second week, say the finals on the 6th. *Think positive, think positive.

Yeah, well that had already been mentioned - it hardly counts as coverage, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

Benji, you know that if it was(the tennis) televised on ch.9 then we would'nt have to pay for FOXTEL, now would we,that is also why FOX. shows every rugby and ARL. match, soon you will have to pay for everything worth watching.
It's called FOXTEL by stealth!!

Melon, who do you tip to win the gents singles?
I thought it was rather big of henman to say he'll win it. He wasn't really impressive in his first round match against the Spaniard.

I've been offline for a few days Benji ,but back in buisness now.
OK, the tennis. A bit to early to tell yet, BUT Tim Henman WON'T win it!
I'll give an opinion after the naxt round.
