I have standard definition digital TV set top box plugged into receiver.
It has optical sound output which I can flick to.
This signal sounds better - clearer / crisper -
than using the stb's RCA stereo audio outputs.
(i.e. like DTS sound compared to Dolby Digital )
The receiver says the optical signal is being read at PCM(48khz).
Therefore, naturally I want to be able to record the optical audio signal
if I get a dvd recorder or Home Theatre PC.
However to my knowledge no standalone dvd recorder currently in
Australia can record the optical audio - meaning they have no optical inputs.
Can a Home Theatre PC record this optical audio signal ?
Dvd recording software would have to allow it as well.
I guess recording time on dvd disc would be shortened due to this
compared to recording RCA audio signal ?
Also is there any PC timer recording / G-code- like software ?
