Like $150 buys you a US model that wont work here!Dude and then you have
to pay taxes postage etc to get it here and if thats not enough you have to
pay someone parts and labour to make it work So thats make this deal look
like pretty attractive The point is ,do some research before you put a guy
down!!!

For $650AUD you can buy one from the US, get it converted with a 200GB disk
that will work here so the offer is about right.
I just ordered mine :)

Brenton there is no way someone as smart as you would pay $650 for a tivo.
You of all people know you can pick up a 200gb disk for less than $200 now.
if you buy a tivo from the uk it doesn't need modifications and if you buy
it from the usa you only need to replace the tuner, this is clearly
identified on the aus tivo web pages.
besides this was a good idea 2 years ago when Tivo came out but now it is
old technology and you should just buy a Strong 5290 set top box for $600
which will give you pvr but also give it to you in SD digital TV quality
unlike the tv that is just analog.
(btw I'm moving to NY in 5 weeks so anyone who wants to buy my Strong 5290
is welcome to it for $500).
Cheers,
Dean

The UK ones work out much dearer as the shipping and conversion rate is so
much higher. The only mods to the US ones are the tuner and stereo sound,
everything else is out of the box. Also, since TiVo pulled out of the UK and
stopped selling the boxes the price has gone up.
