Hi,

There are about a zillion DVD players out there in the 150-200 dollar mark. Are there any in the Aus market that have received solid reviews in the "international" hifi/home cinema press? The UK cheap DVD player benchmark still seems to be the Toshiba SD330E (retails for about 70 pounds) but I don't think you can get that here....

Cheers

Stick to Pioneer or Toshiba. they are very cheap and reliable, and have backup. Most of the other El-Cheapo brands are junk, don't waste your money

The Centrex is excellent. I have 2 at home and have sold 30 odd to
professional clients that use them for surgery based patient education. for
$90 you cant go wrong

Try the Zensonic Z300 from places such as EYO

I'd recommend a Toshiba or any of the more commonly known brand names, but
whatever you get, steer clear of Austek. I bought one of these as a second
machine primarily to display jpg's on. Well, it doesn't even do that
properly. The picture wobbles making the stills virtually unwatchable. And
what else is wrong with it? The door won't open until you press the remote
button 30 or so times, the picture is blocky and pixelated, the sound is
distorted for the first 3 or 4 seconds on start up, the menu's look as
though they were programmed on an 8 bit Atari 2600, it struggles with burnt
CD's no matter what machine I use to burn with, so overall its total crap.
