Was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem:
On a new "Singer SGD-001" player, seems to play local "commercial" DVD's fine - problem appears with disks that I have purchased in China (these are DVD's, not VCD's). Symptoms are that the player has trouble reading the disk, icon pops up on the screen and the image and sound appear "jerky"
Problem is not consistent over many plays (ie same movie will play fine the next day). Seems to me that the problem could be heat related - player runs hot, heats disk. Most faults seem to occur after about 1.5 hours of viewing and can be rectified by switching everything off for a while (then starting where you left off)
Anyway, presume it is highly possible that the Chinese disks are of a lower quality and subject to some expansion as they warm up. I intend to test the disks on different players.
The player iteself is a cheap multi-zone, few reviews around but most seem favourable
Any comments would be appreciated
cheers
